Embarrassing Bodies Kids: Episode 2

Warts

Back in the clinic, 11 year old Jessica comes to see Dr Dawn with an embarrassing case of warts. The warts which started on her hands, are now spreading to her shoulder, knees, elbows and lip line. Jessica’s mum is lost for a solution, as the warts have withstood freezing on 5 occasions and every available cream. Dr Dawn refers Jessica to specialist dermatologist, Dr Russell Emerson, who scrapes off the warts under local anaesthetic. Jessica marvels Dr Dawn with her wart-free hands and new-found confidence.

The EB team would like to thank:

Dr Russell Emerson, Consultant Dermatologist

I had planter warts on my feet and my podiatrist used silver nitrate on them, after about four treatments they disappeared, with no scaring. See if this method can be used on normal warts.

My 8year old daughter had about 30 warts on her hands and legs and we tried everything from wartner to homeopathic remedies without success. She was also pretty small for her age as her body was concentrating all its'resources on fighting the warts. We started giving her a childrens vitamin tonic from boots called MINADEX to boost her system and over a 4 week period all the warts slowly faded away.We are in no doubt that this made the difference to our daughter and would urge anyone in a similar situation to give it a go and see if it is effective for you too.

My 8 years son is quite upset that he cannot rid of his five verruca on his toe and one wart on his thumb. He begged me to do something to take verruca and wart off now. Been seen by doctor as they gave me a acid one but seems not working. My experience that lots of warts on my both hands when I was younger as been used the acid more than two years! After that I decided to go see my doctor to give me a freezing treatment i was surprised that it was working well! I am sad that my son's doctor wont give him a freezing as it was my high recommended but he ignored about my experience. Otherwise doctor say it is not working! oh groan! i dont know where shall i get a freezing treatment for my son. Is chemist provide or ? Can you advice - thanks

She could do what I do... I got bangs to cover it up on my forehead.

Hi, My daughter had a large (size of a golf ball) lump appear on her forehead for no apparent reason. She was dismissed from hospital to rturn and be put on intravenous antibiotics for peri- orbital cellulitus. The cellulitus cleared after about a week, however the lump remained for a bout a year, with no cause being given. It has now disappeared, but she has developed 36 warts on her head, they are now spreadin down her face onto her eys. The doctors aren't interested at all and say that it is a childhood virus, but it is really starting to upset her. She is 9 and image is becoming important to her. Is there anything we can buy or do, to stop further ones developing and reduce the amount she has?

Just go to a dermatologist. It really helps. Hope this helps.

I suffered with warts until a friend told me to try this, it worked for me so maybe it`s worth a shot for you... Soak your wart into warm salty(sea salt is best) water for about 20minutes, scrape as much of the wart off until it begins to hurt then stop. Then re-soak the wart then apply a small amount of the sea salt slightly damp to the wart and apply a plaster over it to keep it in place, if you get the area wet you need to re do this, keep it covered for a few days then check, it got rid of mine.
