at the beginning of each cold, he will go through 1 maybe 2 nights where he really struggles to breath! one time we had to call the ambulance out, because he was that bad, it turned out to be an ear infection, but the said if we had left it any longer he would have started to fit....... its just really unfair for him, as he is never without a cold, and we dont no what to do! we were told it could be an allergy to something. but no, he has not suffered with broncilitus.

My son was like this and it was due to his adenoids being to larg and bloking the back of his nose, he had them out at 3 years and was so happy after his breathing was so much better and infections cleared up.

Hi. I have a 19 month old girl and ever since she was 6 month old she has been sick back to back. It always seems to be the same kind of illness. She has headache, runny nose, sickness & diarrhoea, goes off her food, has a high temp and sometimes she has discharge from her eyes. I understand that children pick up a lot of illnesses but as a mother I just no something is not right. In the last year she has been in hospital with it 6 times and they just tell me the same thing, that its a virus she will be fine. But she's not fine. She's I'll a lot more than she's well. Please help me I just want my daughter to be able to enjoy life and not be I'll. Thank u Leeanne

Hi My daughter had a cornflake sized one by her inner eye and three smaller ones just under the bottom lip plus five or six on her hands when she was 2 - 3yrs - the hands and chin ones were treated with acid applied twice week for 6 wks but the one by her eye couldn't be touched. They lasted about 8 months but she is free from ALL now. Apparently as a babe her immune was low which made her open to the virus. I am sure your son's will dissapear suddently. :)

I have been In pain on the left side of my head/ear for the last two years after feeling something burst this side. I have had a CT Scan and there seems to be nothing showing on the scan causing the symptoms. Around four months ago I insisted swabs were taken and the doctors found I have had two different bacterial infections in my ear and nose. Which I was then treated with antibiotics for. The doctors think I may have glue ear/eustacian tube dysfunction in my left ear. I have a cough and been unable to clear my throat. My nose doesn't function very well, it doesn't produces any snot. I am allergic to penicillin so can only have certain antibiotics and the third lot of antibiotics I had this year has caused a rash all over my body which went down after a few days. I am currently waiting for a second ENT Consultant appointment. Is there anything I can do to reduce the frustration from the glue ear eustacian tube dysfunction? The only things I have found to help is to have a bath a couple of times a week in Epsom salts to help reduce the inflammation and to gargle with salt water and use Sterimar to clean my nose. I also find reducing the amount of dairy and sugar in my diet has also helped. I also have Bowen tecnique nearly every week and massage a couple of times a month. This helps the frustration a lot. I am 32 years old. Is there any thing else I could do?

My daughter is exactly like this, she has just turned three and she has had a snotty nose (constantly on tap) for as long as I can remember. She is also very raerly ill but just sufferes with this runny nose which also varies from clear to green, it can also be sometimes like thick slime and smells really bad. She has a good oral hygiene but sometimes sufferes with bad breath too which I believe they are linked together. Doctor has given antihistamines, didn't work - so then they took a swab to find out what the problem was - tests came back fine. I know there's something wrong with my daughter and everyone who has met her knows something needs to be done, she's a beautiful little girl and it breaks my heart to think she's been suffering with this pretty much all her life. She has just recently started nursery in an afternoon and Im worried children might pick up on this and start to name call her. Please help!!

My 3 year old grandson looks as if he may have this. His cheeks are extremely sore but look shiny and burnt, similar to when a blister has burst. He also has a runny nose which only adds to the soreness, especially when trying to wipe his nose. Is there anything, other than a moisteriser that tends to sting, which anyone can suggest to alleviate the discomfort?

Hi my 22 month old has had very high temp since friday 15/06/12, however, she has been off her food and drink since sunday, her temp sunday was highest 40.3, she has no other symptoms apart from shivering and runny nose, her temp goes up and down. Today same thing, no eating, wanting comfort and to sleep majority of the day, hardly drank and hasnt eaten again today, her highest temp today was 39.4, again her temp is up and down. She has seen two different doctors one said viral infection and the other says bacterial, ive been giving nurofen and calpol alternating the medication, sometimes her temp goes down afterwards but then then will go back up. Im worried and not sure where to go from here as she is so weak.

can you help me?!My daughter is now 15mths and she has a reoccurring cough, runny nose, and breaths like 'Darth Vader' at night. i have been to the doctors so many times i am now beginning to feel like a neurotic mum. They tell me her chest is clear and that it is a viral, but every 1-2 weeks this cough comes back and is distressing her, making her irritable and weak. It is worse at night and does keep her awake, we keep her window open slightly at night and never turn her radiator on. The cough seems dry. When the cough comes back i always think it's a chest infection. She is using a Ventolin inhaler. The only time the cough seems to go away or be kept at bay is when she is on antibiotics. Can you help make my baby girl happy without being on antibiotics x

My son is 11. And this keeps coming back every while, but it seems to be related to Hayfever causing his nose to run badly and get sore, resulting in his hands and fingers touching his nose then maybe picking at a scratch. It's a viscous circle really. I am putting the cream on and covering him in plasters, but he can't really stay off school. But tomorrow I have to as he won't leave it alone if the plasters are off.

My son wet the bed almost every night until he had his tonsils and adenoids removed at age 10. The ear/nose/throat specialist told us that the way you breath affects how you sleep which affects if you wake up when your bladder is full. Now my son is still wetting the bed occasionally because he still has a problem with his nose ( a deviated septum) but at least we know there is something we can do to solve this problem. I encourage anyone with this problem to get their tonsils checked out by a doctor.

I am 13 and have quite a big nose, it used to be red when I was a baby but the redness has faded since then, all the doctors I've seen have said that it will get smaller when I get older but it hasn't, everyday I walk home from school and I have to hide my face so people don't see it, people make comments all the time, I sometimes don't like meeting new people because I'm scared they might judge me because my nose is a ball like shape, like a small bouncy ball, I really hate it and since I started secondary school its been more and more of a problem. Please help :(

First of all, I understand. I grew up with a large birthmark also. Second. Please don't be afraid to show your face. Hold your head high. They can't knock you down or belittle you unless you let them my dear. Find something that boosts your self esteem. That makes you feel good about yourself. Then surround yourself with those who love you and care for you and ignore the rest. I know this is difficult to do as kids at your age can be cruel. But these were all lessons I learned on my own. I was embarrassed and wouldn't look at people in the face I'd walk down the hallways staring at the floor. It was then that I realized I am worth being loved and had to take care of "me". Once I did those who were my true friends came to light.

my 6year old son has had a runny noise scince he has been 8 months old it is clear most of the time but when he has a cold it is green can you tell me what causing this thank you

I have a 9 year old daughter who suffers with at least 1 ear infection every 2-3 months. Up untill beginng of last year I was told to give her antibiotics and paracetamol then last year they started to swab the year and was given ear drops. A few months ago the doctor told my daughter to blow her nose regular which she does but as my doctor has told her to do this on a few occasions now my daughter tends to hide the fact she has earache as she's emmbarrased to be told to blow her nose. Have asked my doctor to reffur her to an ent specialist but they dont seem to be listening. she often gets a thick mucus coming from her ear. I don't know what else to do please help?

my daughter is 6 and was diagnosed with 2 glue ears after her drum perforated. or gunge popped out in simple terms. i noticed she had trouble hearing me and had a appt with ent people set up just prior to the gunge incident. she may grow out of this but she has to pop her ears a lot like you would do on a plane and has to be careful when its cold as when she catches a cold her hearing is poor. all we can do is get her tested at ent clinic every 6 months and tell all her teachers to speak closely or facing her to guarantee she has actually heard them. family are well aware.

My son is ten months and has never done a soft runny poo. We have to use lactulose and infant suppositories which at least help him get some out. Its heart wrenching to watch ur child be in pain. Ask ur dr for some suppositories :) x

hi your storys all sound the same to myn. ryan was in hospital at 5 months old with bronclitis for 10 day in a oxygen tank and on a feeding tube. and nebs every 2 hours. before this he had about 5/6 colds and 3 chest infections. since this he has been in hospital another 2 times he is only 10 and half motnhs old. i also felt like a nerotic mum was at the docs every week . i asked to be seen by a specialist as he was chesty all the time. it would start of with a watery eye runny nose then go straight to his chest which would last for weeks he would sound clear for 2/3 days then would all flare up again he also has dry patchy skin on his face chest and back. he has trouble sleeping as coughs all night. anyway we went to see the specilait and he has etopic dertmatis which is ezecma allergies hayfever caused by the atmosphere .dust pollen etc. got told it could be his adnoids why he was breathing loudly which was apparent at the apt.would be seen in few weeks to look at this further. well 2 weeks after this he had a very bad breathing artack again which sent him back in hospital for 3 days. back in the oxygen tank and nebs. he is now finally bieng treated for asthma. sent home with 2 inhalours a brown one which is the preventer and a blue one which is a reliver for as and when the brown one is to be used every day and night for life via a spacer. and since he has been using them he is sooo much better. he got a cold last week with a cough we though oh no here we go again but the inhalors have stopped the normal attcks he has.. im just confused what allergies causes his probs and if this is what causes the flare ups? i think it could be food allegie but unsure maybe its milk related as he is sick 6/7 times per day. any help greatly recived.i worry every day.
