i have a large birthmark on my chest area over the place where my heart is. I have very fair white skin and the birthmark is very very dark brown it's also quite rough. when i was in primary and we got changed for P.E and what not the other kids would stare but now after living with it for 15 years i actualy quite like it because its different and you can only see it when i wear low tops. even though some birthmarks are hard to live with my sister has a large strawberry one on her face and neck you realy should learn to love them they are part of you.

Hi I am a new mom. my 2 month old baby was born with a large brown birthmark on half his chest all the way to the back and left hand.I have consulted two dermalogists who say it is not a LCMN and is harmless. second doctor diagnosed it as PWS and can be treated with laser.he wants us to wait till he is 7 years to start treating. I am not convinced with the diagnosis as I know that PWS are pink or red and not brown. Can you pl confirm if my understanding of PWS is correct. also what can be done to treat it.can laser work on brown birthmarks

i have a big, flat brown birth mark on the back of my neck,i went to the doctor when i was younger but they said i couldnt get it removed until i was 18 but when it gets to summer i get upset because i cant wear my hair up because i can get embarrased but all my friends tell me not to get upset because its not big, but i think its massive its about 3cm long, most people wont think thats big but to me it is and its raised! i sometimes catch it and it bleeds and hurts so much. it really knocks my confidence because i am so ashamed!i have birthmarks on my legs and back but theyre just like a darker patch of skin and they dont really effect me but i really hate the one on my neck!HELP!

I'm 16 and i have heaps of red birthmarks on my body. i have a large one on my thigh so i hate wearing dresses and shorts that are really short. i can never wear shorts and i get upset. when i see everyone else being able to wear them. i have a large one all the way down my right arm and i hate wearing singlets and t shirts. i always wear long sleeve and jumpers. i don't even take off my school jumper in summer incase people see. i hate them so much and i feel as though they restrict what i do. I have never spoken to my parents about how much i hate them and i don't think they would want me to get them removed

Yes,yes yes.Your situation is so familiar to mine.I have a 2cm wide brown birthmark on my face and everyone tells me to be confident about it but I'm not.Every time I look in the mirror, I feel ugly.Any ofthe good coverage foundations don't ship to my country and the only things I have are my hair and regular foundations that don't cover anything.Sometimes at school I feel like Samara from the horror movie. My mum shut me down every time I speak to her and it is so hard.Pluss you who you have birthmarks on different parts of your body, don't complain because at least you don't have it on your face for everyone to see it when they speak to you.

I think it is very important to point out that haemangiomas can be extremely serious depending on the location of the mark. My 2 year old daughter was born with several on her face and she HAS needed treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital in order to prevent blindness, feeding problems, breathing problems. She also needed a series of heart, brain and abdomen scans to rule out any heart defects and internal growths. She has one inside her nose which WILL need to be operated on. This would have been the perfect opportunity to get this point across but it has been missed. Im a 15 year old female and I totally get where your all coming from apart from unlike most of yours I have them on my face I have a port wine stain that covers my left eye to my ear and one on my upper left side of my lip. I have 6 birthmarks in total two on my back, two on my face, one on my tummy and one on my upper left thigh. As I have port wine stains on my face they are very rare (1 in every 3,000 babies) so they make me feel so alone and excluded. My friends all have perfect skin and faces and I get teased and said I look like I've been beaten up or ruff looking, I feel so ugly and although I can put makeup on them they will never be completely covered. I don't want to get them removed because i don't want to give in to the horrible kids at school. like the rest of the girls my age. I look around at school and think why me?
