I have a 5 1/2 year old daughter who had blood in her PJ bottoms the other week. I took her to GP & they tested her urine which turned out fine and there has been no blood since. Last night at bath time I noticed an abundance of yellow discharge around her vagina and her knicks smelt slightly sour. It has happend again today although not as much. Can someone shed any light on this for me as she seems a little young for anything like this!! Thank you

Maybe, now its a year later, if the symtons are still the same. Defernatly go back and say that you have had these serious symtons for 3 years, i want you to do something about it. If they do another test and the results come back 'A OKAY' then ask your doctor why you have these symtons!:)

Just a thought: Has she been tested for sugar in the urine and blood? I was 11 when I had similar symptoms and it turned out to be diabetes (that was 45 years ago!)Suggest it to your GP - if not the case then I would, personally, see an urologist. Hope all goes well.

My son has just turned 11 he has the same problem we have appointments for an ultrasound in two weeks but along with the pain he has drops of blood at the end of passing urine. Also he has been tested for infection. The doctor wont say. But my sister who is a nurse says it could be a possibility of kidney stones

my son is 7,the last three days hes had stomach cramps,so bad we spend one night in hosital, ruled out appendix, but found blood in urine and on stomach scan his spleen is enlarged and so are a number of lymn glands in his stomach. He is still in so much pain, but send us hoe with calpol

HI there my 2 year old son was reciently admitted into hospital with high blood sugar levels of 15.8 and 11.9 etc but after being admitted his blood suger levels returned to normal and stayed that way for the next few days, he was sent home with a blood monitor and we regularly check his blood sugar levels, and after two weeks since being home from hospital his blood sugars have been normal only being above 7 twice in that time at 7.9 and 12.8. Im a bit confused as his urine tests came back as normal but the doctors are'nt sure why his blood sugar levels were so high, i was wondering if anyone has had this before and what they think i should do. might it be diabetes. My dad and brother are both diabetic.

if you haven't already i def think you need to get a second opinion, i have had type 1 diabetes for 16yrs and i am not a dr but i do not know any other reason why you would get high blood sugar readings than diabetes. in the eary stages you can have a 'moonlight period' where you pancreas does still produce some insulin so depending on what he has eaten / drank or when you have checked his blood in relation to food / physical activiy etc i personally would feel this needs looking at asap - a non diabetic would never have a blood sugar reading as high as 12.8

This happened to my daughter, she was 7. I already had one child with Type 1 so I new what to look for. My daughter was pre-Diabetic and eventually had to go onto insulin. If you want to find out more go to Diabetes uk and google, google google for all the info you can get. Make sure you check out Type 1 nopt type 2(late onset). If you arent satisfied go back to your doctor and ask them, the tests you do will probably give them enough info. Good luck.x

my son will be 15 in a few weeks and have been having kidney infections with blood in his urine since he was about 18 months old he has been and had dye through his body seen speciallist since it started but thats as far as it goes and every time i take him to the doctors all they give is course of tablets also had blood tests can you pease tell me what the cause could be as i was told only this week that he might suffer with it forever thanks.

Hi Jenny,Does he have a piece of skin on the end of his penis which is red? If so he has a tight foreskin and he may grow out of it. apart from that bathe in salt water, and rub the cream on the foreskin and slightly underneath and keep a close eye on it. Hope this helps!

i have a 19 month old daughter and i think she may have diabetes for some time now, i have taken her to the doctors about it but they didin't want to prick her finger and test her blood and gave me a very small pot to try and catch a small bit of her urine to test but it is impossible to catch anything with a girl as it just dribbles down her legs.she has a few symptoms of diabetes, she is always thirsty and wants drink after drink and it doesn't matter what it is that she's drinking, she gets quite tired a lot, she is soaking through in her nappies all the time from constantly passing urine but thats proberly from the amount of juice shes drinking but soaks through in the night a lot also.she get very sweaty when ever shes sleeping.she also gets itchy pits sometimes and scratches when shes in the bath, she also seems to get poorly quite a lot and very easily.does it seem like she has it or could it be something else? because my doctors are never very helpful.

You need to get her tested right away and even the finger prick will only hurt for a minute. It could cause her serious health problems if left untreated. if you are not satisfied with your Gp get a new one or ask for a second opinion or referral. There is a cream that can be given to numb the are before the prick test and why this has not been given or done is beyond me. Demand more from your gp

im 13 and those where alot of symptoms i had but it took over a year for me to finaly be diagnosed if your doctors wont listen to you go to your closest childrens hospital and explain hope this helps x

Hello! My 2.6 yrs old boy has had 4-5 UTIs in the last 6 months. He was prescribed different antibiotics and he improves but in two or three weeks after the course the symptoms come back. At the moment he has UTI-like sypmtoms-fever, loss of apetit and pain when passing urine but his urine looks fine- no unusual smell or colour, not cloudy or dark. His penis looks normal too-no soreness or redness or discharges. He has had a kidney scan and results were normal. Now he is waiting to be seen by an urologist. How can I help him meanwhile. P.S. 3 weeks ago with the same symptoms his urine sample was negative for infection. And his foreskin is not retaracted.

I agree with Jo. If it's bugging you, try sliding your foreskin back slightly before you urinate so that it opens a little at the end. That way the urine has a nice easy way out and won't inflate your foreskin. It'll also help you to control the direction of your urine more easily.

My 2 year old boy has a white substance in his urine which looks similar to sugar which hasnt disolved. he also has white marks in his pants, we have just started potty training so dont know how long he has had it. he doesnt seem to have any redness, soreness or problem with passing urine. Just wondering if you can help please.

Hi I, not a dr but does your daughter eat a lt of fish? When my daughter eats fish fingers, or prawns you can smell it very strong in her wee.

My 6 year old daugther is unable to hold her urine. She has to wear a nappy all the time even to school. As a baby (18-24 months) we noticed her urine was very strong and when sneezing and laughing it would squirt out.It took a long time for anyone to listen to us. Been to see doctors, consultants and even had medication given but nothing seems to work. I am very worried about the situation and hope someone has some advice to give me.
