hey getting hair like that is normal especially if you have dark hair or are dark skinned. If you really want to help you can buy bleaching agents at boots for body hair, you leave it on for 10 minutes and it will make them lighter/blonder. what ever you do dont shave your arms, back or tummy as the hair will grow back thicker and darker and you will most likely get more hair when it comes back. If you're really worried about it go see your doctor because your hormones could be causeing you to grow more hair x

my son is 18mths old and has red/strawberry blond hair. I found black bits in his hair that looked like soil I guessed these were nits. Do nits change colour with hair as I've only seen white eggs on dark hair?

The white eggs are dead ones - empty egg cases. The live eggs, those that will hatch into lice are a dark brown colour and will be close to the scalp. In a long term infestation it is believed that the lice will develope a changed colour to help them camoflage into the hair, as the different generations of lice hatch. Generally they range from a fairly transparent light brown to a dark brown/black. I find them most easily spotted after they have just fed as their abdomens show up as a dark spot.

Hi Sam, White eggs are alive, brown coloured eggs are dead. The adult lice are dark.

Hi, I'm only 14 (girl) and I'm really self conscious about my upper lip hair....to me it seems really dark. I don't want to do anything with it in case it goes wrong and it ends up worse. I've read so many different things about what not to do and now I'm just confused. I have low self-esteem about myself anyway and every time I look at my lip it just makes it worse. I feel everyone knows about my lip hair and I'm pretty sure people have mentioned it as a joke before but it just makes me feel worse....please help?

My 2 year old son hasn't been wee'ing much for the past 3 weeks now, when he does wee its really dark in colour and smells awful. We've been to the doctors who have prescribed antibiotics for an infection which he's only on for 5 days. Nothing has changed with his wee, its still little, dark and smelly, on one occasion it was slightly tinged pink. Any advice on what to do now? Can't get to see his doctor untill Monday. Thanks.

Hi there, I cant help sorry but my 4 year old daughter has this happening to her too. From about March I have noticed dark hair coming in on her arms, legs and back and Im very worried. No answers from any of our docs either. I cant see her growing out of this. Nothing like this in our family either so I would be interested to see what answers you have from others on this.

My daughter has very long dark hair past her bottom I never let her have her hair down for school it's always up and plaited but last week I noticed an egg(black dark brown color) on her wispy hair under her pony tail !! It's been a complete nightmare I've used full marks and followed the procedure in checking the hair with the nit comb, I've recently purchased the nitty gritty comb which is very good but it's taking me 3 hours every night to comb out eggs. We are both in tears frustrated and my daughter scalp is so sore. This weekend I used hedrin as was recommended, the eggs I'm getting are dark but with a clear bit through them are these dead or alive I'm losing the will at the moment any advice would be great. Many thanks

I'm exactly the same. 13 years old, hair on my stomach (the worst, grows back after shaving in a couple of days), legs, they're not the worst and I can cope with these. I'm White British with dark brown hair, so my body hair is quite dark too. I always have had hairy arms and now my frineds are noticing. I've had enough. There must be a treatment for this. (Also hair on my upper lip, vagina, bum, and back. Acne on my back and chest area)

Hi I'm 15 and I have excessive hair all over my body, my upper and lower back, my stomach, chest, bum, hands, arms, legs EVERYWHERE! I'm very self conscious and I'm now at the point where I can't stand to look at myself! I hate it I hate myself for being like this and it makes me so depressed I don't know what to do. I don't know why I am like this but I can't even smile anymore I'm so depressed about myself I also have acne on my face, back, chest and spots on my arms. Is there anything to permanently sort this out? Also because I am White British it's very visible as I have dark brown hair almost black and the body hair is black, maybe some parts it's softer and not as thick but still dark.

I have the same thing. I just turned 16 and I have dark belly hair and hair on my neck and chin. People have pointed it out and it is so embarrassing. And when I shave, even my legs, the hair immediately starts growing back. I haven't been comfortable with my body since at least age 13. :(

Hi Alex. The joys of puberty - Boys love taking the mickey out of each other so I'd just try and ignore them or laugh it off. I wouldn't bother removing your hair. They will have it eventually and yours will grow back. If you have dark hair it tends to be more noticable than light hair on your legs.

I'm 14 and I've got very fine hair on my bum which im not as worried about because its not like anyone will be seeing it anyway haha but im mostly worried about the hair on my neck :( it's not dark but it makes me very self conscious. I can't tie my hair up without worrying about it. I'm hoping its a hormone thing and its because of my age or something but I really want to go to the doctors to get hormone tablets or whatever but my mum keeps saying its unnoticeable and I shouldn't keep going on about it but to me it's un bearable! Does anyone have a way of getting rid of it for good? My mum has a laser hair removal machine but I don't think I want to risk it...

Don't risk it, not without your mums consent because it can be dangerous if its not used correctly. You could try bleaching them or just tell your mum straight off that they bother you and you would feel a lot more comfortable with yourself if you could at least SEE a doctor about it and what they say though I honestly don't think you should worry about it. From the sound of it, it doesn't seem too noticeable and it will probably go down after puberty anyway xxx Hope this helped :)

My daughter's back, chicks and upper lip cover with dark hair she is only 3 and a half year.during pregnancy I got this problem before that i did not have any facial hair problem but it is continuously increasing now I have hair on all my face! I'm 15 years old, almost 16, and for the past 3-4 years I've had very dark hair on my boobs, belly, bum, all over my back, a small amount on my face (not very noticeable), toes and hands. (I'm white/British so it's more obvious). The hair on my arms is quite dark as well, although I've learnt to live with that as other people I know have hairy arms too. What bothers me most is the hair on my torso, back and bum. I have a very obvious snail trail and it means I cannot wear a bikini or crop tops, and haven't done so since before I hit puberty (age 10/11). It makes me extremely self-conscious and lowers my confidence. I know shaving makes it come out darker, I was thinking of laser hair removal but it costs too much. I eat fairly healthily and do exercise. I also have acne on my back and my chest. All of this means I'm embarrassed to go swimming, wear certain clothes or even get changed in front of people. Any suggestions for what I could do? Also, is this definitely hirsutism? Thanks

my daughter also has excessive hair. I take her to a salon to have her facial hair waxed. This costs about £8 every 3 weeks. It can leave it her skin a little red for a few hours but does get rid of the hair. Beauty therapists do it all the time for teenage girls & will give you advice for free. Please don't feel you have to put up with something that distresses you so much when there is an easy solution - tell your mum, dad favourite adult (sometimes writing them a letter makes it easier) how you feel and make a plan of action. Good luck!

I am a 13 year old girl and i suffer from dark hair on my upper lip. Hairs on my nipples and between my breasts - well im only an aa - and i also have excessive dark hair on my legs, thighs and from my vagina up to my belly button. My pubic hairs are also a pain. I am a keen swimmer and my pubes are long and constantly growing but i can not shave or use any other products down there as it causes me huge discomfort. My thighs are my next biggest problem as the hairs on them are at least 2cm long and very dark. I do m=not use my epilator on my thighs as i heard that it causes more hairs to grow - so as a result i have to wear tights in the summer and trousers all year round. I have never been teased about it but recently in P.E - wearing shorts - i heard a few girls say 'look how hair her legs are'. The rest of my legs are also hairy but i use the epilator there. But it is meant to last 3 weeks before you should use it again - i have to use the epilator atleast once a week. My arms are not a problem but i have noticed that i also get hairs under my chin. Another thing i have noticed is that i have pubic hairs in my mum - i thought this was only in men?! what should i use on my pubic hairs, chest, belly button and on my thighs? It has really helped me to read others comments to know that there are other people out there that are just embarrassed as me x

I have something quite simmilar and I know how embarrassing it is as I am also female and I'm 18, I've heard alot of people talk about creams or pills on here that they can get from there gp but there not perminant, if your like me and want it gone id suggest looking into laser treatment as I'm thinking about getting the new Philips one for home use

It's like you're talking about me, I have the exact same thing, the difference is that I have hair on my lower back too. I'm of Arab descent, so I'm very familiar with sugaring, google it, and use it , it's painful, but not nearly as painful as waxing, I hope this helps :)

I have a lot of thick, blonde hair on my arms. Im lucky that its not black, so nobody really notices it, but I hate it being there, And everyone elses arms are all bare and soft and mine are just hairy! Its also my legs, but I can easily keep on top of that, though it grows really fast and can tend to be quite dark! I can also see hair sprouting in a line underneath my belly button. I hate all this hair and Im so paranoid! The hair on my arms even reaches my hands and wrists!

Hi, I'm 15 3/4 years old and I have an Indian Grandad so because of my darker genes, I have thick dark hair all over my body. I use Veet hair removal cream on my legs which is good but I don't know what to do about the rest of my body as I cannot shave. I waxed my neck but it really hurts and I won't be able do that again. I really want laser hair removal when I turn 18 but I don't know what to do until then as I get embarassed. HELP SOMEONE ?!!!!

Im a 15 year old girl and Im mixed race - my dads jamaican and my mums welsh. I have very very dark hair (and lots of it) all over my arms, belly, back, bum, chest, boobs and a little bit on my face but thats not very noticable. It is the most humiliating and depressing feeling in the world getting changed infront of my friends who seem to have blonde discreet hair or no hair at all. I am starting to get really fed up with this problem now and its getting me down big time. When I shave it makes it worse and itchy which leaves me in spots and hair removal isnt any better. Waxing strips are ok but getting it done professionally is better but so expensive! What do you all suggest?

im 13yrs old and I have hair on the side of my face, back, torso, legs, arms and toes. I absolutely hate my sideburns as my friends always tease me about it, and my snailtrail as I cant wear a bikini anymore. also whenever I shave my legs or underarms the hair grows back very dark and its there the next day. My excessive hair growth all around my body has lead me to be very self conscious of the way I look. I told my mum about this but she just said it ws because of puberty and it will stop. I believe shes lying because she has a lot of hair growth aswelll. Im really not sure of the best way to get rid of it as im abit scared to try waxing or dilapitries.

Just talk to your mother properly and explain how you would like to go to the doctors to be safe. It'll be fine, and I know how you feel, but thunk positive and ignore negative remarks. Waxing is good, i do it.

I'm 16 and I'm seriously self concious about my arms. I began to notice the hair in 2007 and now, due to bullying and teasing I've become very self concious. Its very bad up to just near my armpit then stops. I have considered lazer treatment but I was wondering if bleaching could help (I'm very very pale skinned so the dark hair shows a lot) until I'm at the age of consent for this.

I know I have it I've just not gone to the doctors about it because they seem to only give you an appointment if you are at death's door I don' have peach fuzz the amount I have is seriously embarassing that it is all over and I am very light skinned and the hair is so dark I just want to know is it okay for me go to the doctors about it? I don't want to go there and be made to look like an idiot is the nhs allowed to prescribe you the anti adrogens or do they think that is more private healthcare? I cry alot about it and I'm not allowed to do any other methods like waxing, laser hair removal, tweezing, threading because of my mum and my religion so I'm desperate to get rid of this hair I've been subjected to soo much bullying and as much as I beg my mum she won't let me try to get rid of it myself.please help.

My 12 year old daughter suffers the same as you do. She has thick dark hair on her belly and also on her face (almost like a man would have. She gets so embarrassed and wears her hair down and over her face as much as she can. She refuses to tie her hair up. We have tried dying the hair with a facial hair dye. We found that this lightens the hair, also it is still there only not as obvious. We're not having much luck with the doctor at the moment, but it's early days. My daughter is going to have a blood test in a couple of weeks to test her testosterone levels, as apparently a high level (being the male hormone) can cause unwanted body hair in unusual places for a female. Our doctor told us yesterday that there is very little that the NHS can do to treat this condition, but I intend to argue this, as I feel that waxing, etc is very bad for the skin (especially on the face). I have researched tonight with regards to medical treatments available and have found that there are three...Metformin, Finasteride and Eflornithine. I'll mention this to the doctor on our next visit and see what he says. My daughter also suffers with her weight (being around half a stone over what she should be) and she suffers from acne and terrible periods. The doctor has suggested if her testosterone levels are high and she has all of these other symptoms, it may be PCOS (harmless cysts on the ovaries. I hope, if nothing else, it helps you to know that you're not the only one (in fact it's as common as 1 in 10 females) and that someone (ie, my daughter) knows exactly where you're coming from. I really hope you manage to get some help. In the mean time, remember you are beautiful regardless. x

I have hair “down there” and its thick and black (I'm naturally dark). I don't know what to do about it.

Well there is a couple of options you have to minumise it, you could shave it but it can irratate the skin and make it itchy and you could also cut yourself (OUCH). If you do decide to shave please just be EXTREMLY CAREFUL! To just tame it abit you could trim it with scissors, this is a better option as it doesnt irrate the skin, but there is still that chance of cutting yourself. You could also use hair removal cream but i would only use it on the outer part of the vagina because the inner lips and vagina hole are VERY sensitive and the cream would make them sore. Well hope this helps, good luck =)

Hi, I have had random hairs on my face loads on my chest, tummy and legs and my forearms are now starting to get thick dark hairs on them :( I can't shave because i get infected follicles, waxing really hurts and sometimes even sensitive hair removal creams bring me out in a rash! I find that a dry electric shaver works for me because it gets rid of the hair and doesn't leave an obvious rash-maybe this could work for you? I know loads of women who have hairy toes, even though they don't have excess hair anywhere else. I understand how low you must feel - I've had this problem since i was about 12 and im now 28. Have you been to your GP? They can prescribe you some medication to reduce or prevent more hair growing.
