My son is 4 yrs old and has been trying to wee a lot. dip tests are negative, his temperature is fine. he was on anti b's for 3 days but they took him off as he did not show any pain. he has a high pain threshold and is terrified of doctors but I noticed a sore on the tip of his penis right by the hole. What could it be and what can I do?? Its driving us both nuts!! Will be going back to gp and pushing it but would appreciate some advice. Have read advice given. He is constantly playing with his penis....I assumed it was a man thing and just ignored it. Discouraging it just drew attention to it. His foreskin is not tight. I do not wash it.

its normal, just your body reacting to temperature.

I get this too, it's natural and completely normal, it usually has something to do with temperature change and/or blood flow, no need to worry at all :)

My 8 week old baby has 4 mouth ulcers on her hard palette. I have been to my GP but they don't know the cause. She had a temperature at first but it has stayed down now. There are no other symptoms. Is this normal? What could the cause be? Because she is so young we are using calpol and a throat spray prescribed by doc. Will they take long to heal?

Is there a connection between tonsilitis and impetigo? My son is 9 and twice has had very high temp and tonsilitis followed by a pinprick rash, then impetigo. He has high functioning autism and despite tonsilitis being described as bad by the GP he never mentions a sore throat.

impetigo can be caused by the same bacteria that causes strep throat... there could be a connection there

My 27 month old has a red blister looking rash on his face. He also appears to have sores inside his mouth, these are preventing him from eating (even though he is hungry). He has a temperature of 38 and a very faint rash on his hands and feet. Is this hand foot and mouth. Do I need to taking him to the doctor if it is? Any advise would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Hi I'm 15 and I am in need of some help and information. When I was 13 I ripped a part of my penis where my foreskin meats the rest of my penis. The rip is visible when I pull my foreskin back. This happend when I was 13. i was on a high bar in a gymnasium and i came back to the high bar through a handstand possition and my penas got caught and torn. I didn't do anything about it due to embarrassment and I also thought that it would heal. But now I'm 15 and some of my friends are having sexual experiences and I'm just a bit scared that it will get worse during intercorse. I don't know what to do. Just leave it? Go to a doctor? Or is there any tips on healing it? Thanks. Gabriel

Hi Gabriel. You sure have had an unusual experience and so it's impossible to advise you here. I would recommend that you visit your doctor. He or she will have seen many penises so don't feel embarrassed or worried about anything. Just go for it OK.

A lot of people with autism spectrum disorder have concurrent conditions like dyspraxia and dyslexia. I have dyslexia and I have suspected autism . I have discovered that doctors are bit confused about dyslexia . It's not considered a medical problem just a educational one . However when I had a bad case of flue my doctor noticed that I was confusing my right from my left. Apparently this also occurs in people with pyscofrenia coupled with a high temperature and feverish delusions he wondered if I had this I was put on physctropic drugs and sent to a physciatrist . I didn't have physcrforenia but it's there on my records and for a while my family though I might .A bit scary .when a doctor asks if you hear voices remember that if you are autistic then you might have better hearing than him and you could give a misleading answer if you say yes because you can hear voices outside of the room. Always ask if your not sure I find that very hard to do but wish I had done on many occasions !

I would love a solution to this too. My 18month old has always had a bedtime routine and goes to bed fine and even on his own now. But still wakes up 3-4 times a night. Over the past 18 months he has slept through the night maybe 10-15 times. He has a dummy and soft toy comfortor and normally I can just put his dummy in and he is back to sleep. Recently during the hot weather he also had a viral infection and high temperature so we started giving him a little bottle of water when he woke up in the night to cool him down and send him back to sleep. Now 3 weeks later he ia still waking up and now asking for a drink (water) and not just taking his dummy, but will if he has had a bit of a drink first approx 1 oz. Is the drinking causing him not to sleep more than normal? Is he now depend on a bottle during the night? What can I so to get a full night sleep? Waiting for some lovely advise

I got 38 in the Autism test, and have tried these tests before, always scoring very high like this. I've always felt I didn't fit, am agorophobic, obsessive/compulsive, multi-phobic,very creative, not at all practical. Would there be any reason or advantage to getting a doctor to diagnose me? In a way, it makes me feel better but in another way it increases my sense of alienation. Two of my three sons also score high, the third doesn't have much contact with us. My sons didn't have the childhood immunisations because of worries about high incidence of epilepsy in the family, but two of them developed it anyway.

Don't worry - when u reach high school, you will be glad that you started earlier - you will be more confident and satisfied with your body but for the time being, you don't need to tell anyone or show anyone if you don't want to - to be honest the subject pops up quite a lot in high school!

my son 9 yr old son is diagnosed autisic, i did it for him ( he was in bed ) just to see how autisic he is on the scale as noone has ever said he got 41 points where as i got 9 he also has high levels of anziety and a high level language disorder so can be hard to cope with at time but it would be good if there was a show all about autism and its effect and tips on how to cope, i am on my own with him and my daughter who is 5 and it can be testing at times ! thanks x

I have an 11 month old daughter who has had severe constipation since she was 3 months old. At her worst she didnt poo for 4 WEEKS and ever since all the doctors have done is give her laxitives. Finally the hospital have given in and given my daughter a second opinion. She is now on a very high dose of Lactulose 30ml a day and 5ml of Senna a day which is only just getting her bowels going soft although they are very mucus like. But can vary to solid long poos approx 6 inches x 1inch and every bowel movement leaves her screaming in agony. Only now on the high does of laxatives does she go approx every other day. Has anyone ever come across anything like this? Thank you

Hello Chantelle, I hve a baby girl who is almost 5 months old and has had problems passing stools ever since she was 2 weeks old everyone said it would pass and at 6 weeks old she was given lactulose which still didnt help but after going 15 days without passing anything she was then put on senna, this got her going but then stopped again so she is now on 5ml senna and 5ml lactulose everyday, my health visitor was the one to get me referred to hospital but my local one said that i need to be seen quicker and to go to the bigger hospital so i am now waiting on the hospital getting back to me. I am breast feeding Holly and was told this may be a factor in why she is not passing stools? but i am starting to wean her now as she is ready and hungry and hope this does not cause more problems!! i just dont want to rely on laxitives to get her to go and i am sure that you dont and like you would love some advice as i cannot get any extra fluids in to her as she wont take a bottle due to being breastfed. A lot of people have told me it is commom but unsure why? lets hope we get answers from the hospital.

if you haven't already i def think you need to get a second opinion, i have had type 1 diabetes for 16yrs and i am not a dr but i do not know any other reason why you would get high blood sugar readings than diabetes. in the eary stages you can have a 'moonlight period' where you pancreas does still produce some insulin so depending on what he has eaten / drank or when you have checked his blood in relation to food / physical activiy etc i personally would feel this needs looking at asap - a non diabetic would never have a blood sugar reading as high as 12.8

I scored 46. I hv one child with diagnosis of some speech and language disorder and ADHD, very high functioning. Have another child with severe speech delay who's awaiting referal for possible Autism.... Never even knew what Autism was until last summer. Looking at my relatives now I can see that quite a few if them are high functioning autistics. Weird world of mine turned upside down, it's now even more weird.

Well that certainly sounds hectic! Best of luck to you and your family. Hopefully things will only improve now that you are more aware of autism, even now knowing you possibly have it too, I think it's important not to lose sight of the fact that Autism in no way defines you (how could it if you only heard of it last Summer)

Hi Daniel. There is no average penis size for boys your age so chill out - you are OK. It could keep growing until you are 20 so plenty of time. The average size of an adult man is about 6 inches. Not as big as you may think. Tightly packed testicles is the bodies way of keeping them at the correct temperature for sperm production. Don't worry - you are fine. I hope this helps - take care.

My daughter has been diagnosed with this at the age of 6 - I can honestly say that I have never known her to be so ill - she hasnt moved for 4 days off the sofa, she hasnt eaten and has had a temperature of 38.8 for two.days - ive been so worried, such a nasty viral bug, apparently its not normallly this bad, but shes had a severe case :( including a bad throat stomach ache leg ache headache and the terrible rash x

We have constipation issues for our nearly 3 year old daughter, it has put back toilet training significantly but we use "Parachoc" a children's laxative containing liquid paraffin, with the correct daily dose it seems to ensure she has regular soft movements with no pain. Apparently too high a dose can cause some of the paraffin oil to leek which of course you want to avoid but maybe panty-liners might help absorb this. Our daughter is currently in nappies so this isn't such an issue but we find with the right daily does there is not in-between leaking. Her anxiety surrounding pooing started from several painful experiences but the parachoc (and a seriously high fibre diet and plenty of water) has enabled her to poo again without too much anxiety, so when her anxiety is gone we'll attempt to get her back on the toilet! With the high fibre diet, she has always been a picky eater so anything I bake for her has plenty of prunes and oat bran in it which seems to help, and prune juice mixed with OJ is a bit of a winner. Good luck. It is very stressful.

After i turned 3 i stopped bedwettin completely. When i turned 11 i frequently woke up during the night to find i had wet the bed!:( i was also thirsty all the time and tired during the day! My doctor told me i had a urine infection (not true!) but soon after my aunt checked my blood suger to be given a very high reading which indicated diabetes! Short while after i was diagnosed with diabetes and stopped wetting the bed completely except once where my bloods were very high during the night. I was embarresed but in a way it helped me diagnose my diabetes! So beware there may be a cause to bedwetting!?
