    Nappy Rash

No prizes for guessing what nappy rash is: it's the raw, red, inflamed or spotty condition that baby's suffer across the nappy area, and it's a result of irritation caused by your baby's urine as it breaks down into ammonia, thereby burning the skin. Read more →

Hi Hazel. There are many much older boys who still have tight foreskins. They sort it out eventually and have no problems. I wouldn't put him under pressure. Keep the area clean and do anything to avoid it getting inflamed. He is still very young. Hope this helps.

Hi my Son is almost 8 yrs old and he still cannot pull back his foreskin, He has been trying for the last two yrs on/off with the Drs advice. But it wont even go back enough to see the head of the penis at all! and sometimes it gets sore and inflamed. When he has a bath I encourage him to pull it back but he only goes so far before he says it hurts. Please Help! Hazel.

Hello. My name is Katie and I suffer from cystitis regularly, I also have been given 'trimethoprim' as an antibiotics. I have had this problem since the age of two and am now 16. Try applying Vaseline to the area - this soothes the pain from where the vagina is inflamed and dry, make sure your child drinks plenty of water, avoid soap and bubble bath products whilst bathing, look out for a liquid medicine called 'Potassium Citrate Mixture' at your local pharmacy. This liquid medicine is diluted in water and relieves the symptoms of cystitis within 15 minutes. Also another thing you can try for your child is to have a hot water bottle positioned towards the bottom of the spine at night time, this will help soothe the pain and I would definitely advise to wear cotton underwear due to the fact that it is comfortable to wear. Make sure that your child hasn't cut herself in the area and that she wipes herself form after using the toilet correctly; front to back. Hope my advice is helpful! Best of luck, hope your child feels better soon x

Hi Catherine. Attention seeking. You were right to take no action. Nothing to worry about at aged two. Think about how you would react if he said "Mummy my finger hurts...". Take care.

I read that applying comvita manuka honey works so I bought some from Boots (£26!). Have been using it for about a month and now some of the spots have got red and inflamed. It seems to be speeding up the process but is it a good sign that the spots are scabbing over even if they are uncomfortable? Has anyone else had any success with this treatment?

A woman informed me that she used our seaweed lotion on her daughters mc and completely gone in ten weeks also cleared it from the son as it appeared and treated earlier. I do not know what prompted her to use Caraderm on this condition but it worked and the images can be seen on the website caradermskincare.com All natural ingredients the lotion was primarily aimed at itchy inflamed skin

My son has had this for about 8 months. He had one spot on his arm, the Dr said to leave alone ... Then a few more apeared. I ordered molludab (£20) which seemed to be working as spots got red and inflamed... Then nothing! Then I noticed he had a couple on his torso so read up and heard some good things about zymaderm(£20!) I have been using that for about 2 weeks now and the spots have come out in force! He must have around 15 on his torso now... Has anyone else had this? Now I don't know what to so as it seems this treatment making it worse!

Hi I'm 36 years old and I've been biting the skin around my fingers for as long as I can remember. It's not all the time that I do it, if my nails look nice then I don't do it as much. At the moment most of my fingers are red, inflamed and really sore. I don't know how to stope myself doing it, is there anything I can buy to put on my skin to stop me biting them

My daughter age 12 has CM on the back of her thigh, she has had this for around 6 months, we have been told to leave them alone info given by dr which says they should not be itchy or painful, although they are both and becoming very angry and inflamed. in the last week they have spead down her leg onto her other leg and now has a spot appeared on her neck (hoping this is not another one!), my neighbour has lots of old remedies so currently we are trying 'epsom salts' from chemist mixed with 'glycerine' to form a paste, this is placed on lint and covered so the spot cannot breath - this should draw out any infection, lets hope! will keep you posted!

Hi michelle I've personally had eczema from a very young age and have helped reduce the irritation by changing my diet. I found that eating ready meals (with all their preservatives) and spicy foods are very bad for my skin also drinking fizzy drinks like coke also bring out the eczema, but worst of all if I chop a tomato or lemon without gloves the skin becomes inflamed and highly irritated! So with all this in mind please make sure your daughter steers clear from heavily spiced or packaged food as it sounds like her case is very extreme. I would also recommend trying homeopathy and hemp creams which cool the irritated skin dramatically! hope I could help! X

Hi, my 6 year old daughter suffered from MC for about a year and half. She had around 80+ of them which most were becoming bigger as time went by. They started to get red And inflamed like boils but all dr. Would say is they will eventually go away so leave them alone. My Poor daughter was embarrassed and in pain. So after long research and wasted money on creams we came across UK google and found the answer. Full streangth apple cider vinager. Within 3 days of applying it 2x day. They have dried up and are beginning to disappear. I highly recommend it even though can become very itchy after application. I covered them with small round bandaids I applied AVC to the patting on bandaid. This stuff is awesome and I'm so thankful we finally are getting rid of them. I gave my daughter Benadryl to help with the itching. It was difficult to see her have extreme itching, but to her it was well worth it seeing they are all disappearing. They will turn black but that's because they are drying up. Hope this helps.
