My daughter frequently has threadworms and tonight it looked as if the worm was coming out of an open sore just outside her anus instead of the anus itself. Is it possible that the worms have caused a sore???

Itchy could be a problem. You can easily have it removed by a dermatologist. It didnt even hurt when I removed mine. However if it changes color or shape have it checked immediately!

Hi, It's possible that you might have worms again. Did you take any medication the last time you had them? If so you can buy Ovex from the chemist or even in Tesco. Can you tell your mum or an older sister or auntie, and ask her to buy some for you? You will have to be careful to keep your hands clean all the time, and only use the same towel. If the itching gets bad at night, try to sprinkle some talc around your bottom as if you keep it dry and not moist around there it will make it more difficult for them to lay eggs. (if you have been sweating it would make it easier for them to lay eggs) Try to put a pair of gloves on in bed and then put them straight in the washing in the morning. Hope this helps!

The best thing to do is have a look at her bottom at night when it feels itchy. You can see the little pests wriggling about. We have an ongoing problem with our 4 year old.

Ok first question, did your Boyf use a condom? Aside from all the usual std and pregnancy stuff people will say there is this answer... Apparently a lot of men actually carry thrush (candida) in the folds of skin around thier penis, so it could be that by breaking the skin in your anus he's given you thrush which if you go to your gp or chemist and get some thrush cream you can get it cleared up in a jiffy. You'd do well though to get your Boyf to use the cream too, otherwise with or without using a condom you can just pass the thrush back and forth to each other. (Guys don't like the idea that they have thrush on thier willys so just say no sex till you use the cream) However I'd suggest that whilst you both get treated you don't have sex or any form of play with your nether regions for a week. I know this, not because I'm a gp but because it happened to me in my early 20's. if the symptoms persist please do go see your gp. Please please please have safe sex and especially if you have any accident like accidental anal sex, if you tear and bleed you could expose yourself to all sorts of nastiness and the last thing you want at a young age is a std or worse!! I hope this helps

You probably have threadworms. This might sound scary but you'd better tell your parents(scary but just do it). My advice is that you get some medication and see a doctor. It's a little scary i know when i first had it a few years back and i was pretty freaked out too. There's advice on the internet if you need it. Good luck :)

I'm nearly 17,and I had threadworms about 3 weeks ago,go tell your mum or dad and get them to take you to a doctor, the doctor will give you a tablet which everyone In the house has to take,it might sound scary but it's better to get it checked than suffer

Hi I'm 14 my anus is really itchy and I had aquite a few little white worms in my poo can someone tell me what it is I am scared to tell my parents and everyone else what do I do? Please help x

Hello, it sounds like threadworms. I know that it is really embarrassing to tell someone about this but it is easily treated. Loads of people, especially children get them. It is important that everyone in your household is treated, otherwise they are just passed back and forth between you all. Just be brave and tell your parents, you will feel much better. Look on the NHS website or ask a pharmacist or GP for advice. This information can be easily accessed by your parents also if they are unsure what it is. Hope this helps.

its ok please tell your parents all you need is sime medicine and thats it but all your family do need to be treated or it will keep passing on! do talk to your parents they WIll understand x

My children are 13 and 10 and both incontinent with their bowels. Yesterday a paed finally "lifted their tail" so to speak and is not completely sure (as he rarely sees it) but thinks their anus is in the wrong spot! We are having an MRI on both kids next week. Google Slow Transit Constipation, Intestinal Neuronal Dysplasia, Nuclear Transit Study, Imperforate Anus, Anterior Anus, Posterior Anus for more ideas for your grand daughter. To think of all the gallons of laxatives, enemas, x'rays etc and we've travelled all over Oz trying to find answers. If it turns out to be such an obvious thing I think I'll scream! Every specialist must've just thought that someone else checked. Ask your doctor for biopsy's and an MRI. And please hug your Grand Daughter.

I have had threadworms for the third time and I've showered and cleansed thoroughly. But they're still wriggling about and can you please please tell me that u can permanently get rid of it because I have ibs, and a lot of stress and by worrying about the threadworms, I am more stressed which is meaning that my ibs is getting worse:( please help and it's so itchy around my anus, I actually feel suicidal.

You might have thrush, got the dr and they can give you special cream/tablet to clear it all up xo

Sounds like "thrush". You can buy cream over the counter at a chemist. No prescription from you doctor is required. Can be common in females, is natural.

my 4 year old has had itchy vulva and also just above anus for a long time despite trying thrush creams and other itchy skin creams. went to docs, thrush swab came up negative, this was months ago. since then still red, though sometimes better than other days...not alot of discharge - but tonight as we have seen on a few occasions she has these white bits on vulva which are almost like bits of white soap (have always taken this to be thrush!) what is it?!! tissue paper? seems more like bits of soap texture. trying to keep cream free as is hard to understand whats going on if applied some. eg if i check in morning and see white i assume it may be down to sudocrem applied night before! going to have to go back to gp but getting fed up with it. also scared if is thrush, is it risk to her fertility in later life? she has just started school and worried this is affecting her mood, must be stressful having this and we cant seem to resolve it.

It sounds to me like thrush

Hi there, My daughter just turned one and we have exactly th same problem only she takes movicol everyday and i have to give her suppositories every 2nd day. She had to have her anus dilated to make it bigger under anestetic and she screams for up to 45 mins before managing a tiny poop. The doctors have also say her anus is too close to her vagina which isnt helping. This has been happening since she was 8 weeks old. I would ask for a referal to a surgical paediatrician if your not happy with the situation.

I have just been to GP after suffering for 2 whole months, since I the itchiness resulted in small amounts of blood in my stool. The GP has requested for stool sample and a blood sample and told Me to apply vasaline before opening my bowels. However my wife Says she can see a cut above my anus and infected skin, but he told me he could see nothing. What can I do? I am still itchy and unhappy As I still have to work, and it gets uncomfortable.

Hi ive got threadworms for a long time i know there itchy and sometimes painful bugers but try to ignore the clean yourself well and also i found out that if you eat raw shreeded carrot it helps fasten up the process of the worms death they should only last up to 5 to 6 weeks if not seek medical adivce also you can use wet cold folded tissue and put it just by your anus opening and that will cool down any irritation that the worms may course ehilst laying the eggs you might notice that you need to go to the toilet alot do go try to release any discharge (thin layer of gooey stuff) if you find them in your poop get a tissue and kill them ok hope this helps bye x

Dont worry my girl had that twice, what you need to do is ask her if she gets a wriggly feeling around her anus (bottom) and if you can go to the doctors and ask them for a stool test, they will see if there are any hidden parasites but none should do her harm. Some parasites are worst at night so if that is the case try getting a piece of sticky tape and sticking it to her anus overnight and then if it shows anything you might be able to take that to a doctor which is another common procedure. Finally try and get her to eat carrots for three days this is a remedy to kill of any worms in children but make sure you clean the whole house (in case of eggs) and follow strict hygiene measures. Good Luck!

My son is 4 he is complaning of itchy bum he's penis is itchy too I took him to the doctor 2times he had urine infeccion the 2times now is still with antibiotic he still itchy bum and penis too I don't know what to do!! Please help

My son has Aspergers and has had problems with passing stools since he was a baby. He's now 13 and has had a blocked bowel 3 times in the last year. He hates going to the toilet because it causes him pain- but recently he's been soiling again at school so hes been back on the movical. His apetite is poor and has alot of abdominal pain even with the movical and recently said that it feels like he has veins sticking out of his anus- I've checked but cant see anything- also he has said that hes itchy but has also said that he's tried to pull one of these 'veins' out- the constipation nurse thinks he may have a prolapse? Incidentally I'm really disappointed since I've been watching his diet carefully since he has a limited diet (loves meat) and I give him veg that he will eat. Also peas give him diarhea and I suffer with IBS

My son is exactly the same. What cream are you using?

My 6 year old has been complaining just the same of an itchy bum. I thought he was just being difficult at bed time as I couldn't see an apparent reason and some sudoceeam normally quietened him down. Unfortunately I have found worms after the GP mentioned it could be this. First time for everything. I have a three year old too but he seems fine. Feel bad for not realising sooner.

I think I have thread worms because when I went to bed a few nights ago I had a really itchy bum so I put on some nappy rash cream (which I normally do if I have an itchy or sore bum ) and I had white long worms moving on my hand ,what should I do because its making it hard to sleep because its that sore , please help !
