Hello, my daughter is 6 and a half and she is always asking for sweets - she has a normal appetite, not always hungry though, but recently she has lost quite a bit of weight and has had irritation in her groin area. Should I get her checked for diabetes?

Boys are easily attracted to fiddling with their "groin" area and I would encourage anything to divert attention away from such areas. Effective washing is of course essential. Think to yourself - what would I do if he hurt his finger and adopt a similar solution for his penis! Agreed keep an eye but don't fuss.

Itchy could be a problem. You can easily have it removed by a dermatologist. It didnt even hurt when I removed mine. However if it changes color or shape have it checked immediately!

The best thing to do is have a look at her bottom at night when it feels itchy. You can see the little pests wriggling about. We have an ongoing problem with our 4 year old.

Hi Marie. Play it cool as little boys are easily attracted to their willies. I would recommend that firstly you ensure that the area is washed regularly. Secondly, do anything you can to ignore the issue and distract him from touching it apart from when weeing or washing. Make sure any other men and boys in your household set a good example too!! Good Luck and don't worry.

I took my son to the doctors as I thought he had chicken pox, I was told he had molluscum. I've read it up and it says it happens in one area to begin with ususally around armpits etc... They only appeared this morning but there are around 5 on his chest but are spread out and about four on his back that are spread out, about 4 around his groin. 3 on his face and one behind his ear. My nurse also printed off a fact sheet about it and on that it said that MC shouldn't be itchy yet my son scratches. The nursery he attends has had 5 cases already of chicken pox. Could she have got it wrong? My son is not even 2 yet.

You might have thrush, got the dr and they can give you special cream/tablet to clear it all up xo

Sounds like "thrush". You can buy cream over the counter at a chemist. No prescription from you doctor is required. Can be common in females, is natural.

Ok first question, did your Boyf use a condom? Aside from all the usual std and pregnancy stuff people will say there is this answer... Apparently a lot of men actually carry thrush (candida) in the folds of skin around thier penis, so it could be that by breaking the skin in your anus he's given you thrush which if you go to your gp or chemist and get some thrush cream you can get it cleared up in a jiffy. You'd do well though to get your Boyf to use the cream too, otherwise with or without using a condom you can just pass the thrush back and forth to each other. (Guys don't like the idea that they have thrush on thier willys so just say no sex till you use the cream) However I'd suggest that whilst you both get treated you don't have sex or any form of play with your nether regions for a week. I know this, not because I'm a gp but because it happened to me in my early 20's. if the symptoms persist please do go see your gp. Please please please have safe sex and especially if you have any accident like accidental anal sex, if you tear and bleed you could expose yourself to all sorts of nastiness and the last thing you want at a young age is a std or worse!! I hope this helps

My boy always complains of an itchy bot at night before he has to go to sleep he had worms once and was treated right away but he insists it what he calls the worms! But I check around his bum and no evidence of worms are apparent he stops complaining when I put cream on him but he assures me he has an itchy bum so what could it be?

My son is exactly the same. What cream are you using?

My 6 year old has been complaining just the same of an itchy bum. I thought he was just being difficult at bed time as I couldn't see an apparent reason and some sudoceeam normally quietened him down. Unfortunately I have found worms after the GP mentioned it could be this. First time for everything. I have a three year old too but he seems fine. Feel bad for not realising sooner.

I think I have thread worms because when I went to bed a few nights ago I had a really itchy bum so I put on some nappy rash cream (which I normally do if I have an itchy or sore bum ) and I had white long worms moving on my hand ,what should I do because its making it hard to sleep because its that sore , please help !

My 6 year old son has got mc he started with one on his arm he now has a cluster of about 4/5 on his arm, numerous ones on his tummy & they are now developing in his groin & thigh area. Dr presrcibed the silver cream but its not working he's had them over 12mths. I've heard apple cider vinegar is good. So going get some tomorrow, as it's distressing me as he's a very unhappy little chappie. I've never heard of this up until now. It's not a pleasant virus at all. I was told by my Dr not to squeeze as this spreads the virus. Has anybody else got any suggestions?

Hiya, Dr has suggested to me to use something called Molutrex. My 5 year old has Molluscum on his arm and we to were told not to squeeze them as it would make it worse, then told to just leave them and they will disappear. But, they didn't so now I have just brought Molutrex as suggested by my Dr and it seems to be so far so good. Might be worth speaking to your doctor about it.

Thanks Georgia I will call my gp and mention this. Since I've posted this they have multiplied and are in his legs now. I used the apple cider vinegar on them but he had an reaction and was screaming the house down as he said the vinegar was burning him. I'm so sad for him as they look unsightly. Thanks for your suggestion. Charlotte

I was diagnosed with hip dysphasia at 37 and had two hip replacements 3 years ago. My 9 year old daughter has now developed groin pain and has been diagnosed with hip dysphasia She is constantly in pain and is becoming depressed. Consultant has offered acetabularplasty which i believe is a fairly big invasive procedure and we are going for a 2nd opinion soon. The consultant also said he believed the procedure would be hugely beneficial in elevating the pain and that bryony could go on and lead a normal life without the need for more surgery later. However the testimonials of other hip patients contradict this. I am so unsure of where to go from here but it is killing me seeing my beautiful little girl in pain. Any advise would be greatly appreciated

once i had itchy nipples but it went away. i doubt its bad. if it doesnt go away talk to someone about it

I know this is a really late reply, but, I get itchy nipples and this just means they're growing. It's totally normal although a bit annoying :)

my 4 year old has had itchy vulva and also just above anus for a long time despite trying thrush creams and other itchy skin creams. went to docs, thrush swab came up negative, this was months ago. since then still red, though sometimes better than other days...not alot of discharge - but tonight as we have seen on a few occasions she has these white bits on vulva which are almost like bits of white soap (have always taken this to be thrush!) what is it?!! tissue paper? seems more like bits of soap texture. trying to keep cream free as is hard to understand whats going on if applied some. eg if i check in morning and see white i assume it may be down to sudocrem applied night before! going to have to go back to gp but getting fed up with it. also scared if is thrush, is it risk to her fertility in later life? she has just started school and worried this is affecting her mood, must be stressful having this and we cant seem to resolve it.
