My 8 year old daughter A gets burning red skin around the vagina sometimes after having a wee, we use nappy rash cream and this seems to calm it down but why is this happening, could it be something in the diet or too many acidic drinks? When it happens it is very painful for her and keeps reoccuring probably once every 2 weeks. J

My 27 month old has a red blister looking rash on his face. He also appears to have sores inside his mouth, these are preventing him from eating (even though he is hungry). He has a temperature of 38 and a very faint rash on his hands and feet. Is this hand foot and mouth. Do I need to taking him to the doctor if it is? Any advise would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

i had the same problem with my 2yr old have u tried metatanium that worked brilliantly for mine.

My baby boy is 5 months old and he started with a small area of raised red patches on his belly and this spread over his whole front, then around his back and patches are now on his legs and arms. We were advised it could be his bath products and for the last 10 days we use only water to wash him in as told to do so by a health visitor, the first few days the rash seemed to be less red and now over the last week it has got really bad, his whole back is covered, what else can we do?? I'm keeping the skin well moisturised, using olive oil or non purfumed products as advised by the pharamacist, we're at a loss how to help, please recommend what else it could be or we can do.

There are creams that may state for children but still contain ingredients that irritate her skin. Everyone, & every child's skin is different. You can do an allergy test to find out what's triggering the eczema, or a patch test to see what ingredients in moisturizer she's allergic to. Burning skin is not that common, so may have to see specialist (PD in child dermatology) if condition persist. Meantime, a hypoallergenics authority has answered some of my questions on sensitive skin product on eczemablues.com, some of the answers should help.

My 6 year old son has not ever had meningitis, luckily. He does however often present with the exact same rash that doesn't disappear. I ALWAYS take him to see a doctor as soon as the rash appears, we end up being admitted to the hospital for tests and observation and everytime we are told it is a viral rash. I would love to know why my son viral rash ALWAYS presents itself as the meningitis rash? It's so frightening because even though it's always been a viral rash, it's always in the back of my mind that it could be meningitis!

My daughter had this - her cheeks started becoming red and hot on the Friday and by the Monday the rash was beginning to appear further down her body. At the end of the first week she was rashy head to toe - her legs being the worst affected. The rash lasted 2 weeks, disappeared and reappeared after a week for a further 2 weeks! Her school were non too keen for her to attend even though she was contagious before the rash even appeared! I just wonder how you can tell the difference between this ans scarlet fever as both appear to be similar?

My daughter has suffered from this rash for nearly 2 years now and it does not seem to be getiing better. She also started having eczema (after the rash had been there about a year) in her right elbow and I've been told using steroid cream might suppress the illness and come back as asthma later?

Your doctor should have told you that the infectious part of slapped cheek has passed by the time the rash came out. But your other kids may get it as far away as 20 days time. But now the rash has appeared you can go outdoors but the child may still need rest.My son has got it at the moment he was in contact with someone at school that had it 14 days ago. Hope this will help.

my 12 month old daughter has been diagonised with a cows milk protein allergy, we noticed it at christmas when she was just over 6 months old and was weening her, and put her onto stage 2 of the SMA progress milk, her skin inflammed and she had red, almost a chicken pox like rash, we noticed once we put her onto milk things like cheese and yoghurt also caused this problem. We saw a specialist who diagnosed this, now she is a year we arent sure what to do regarding her milk, do we keep her on formula??

You can try milk substitutes like soya milk or goats milk. a calcium suppliment is also a good idea. try a little soya milk on the skin first to see if she reacts before feeding it to her-it wont mean she isn't allergic if she doesn't react but she may react if its a severe allergy and its better than ingesting it. hope that helps

Hi i am intolerant to milk proteins and so is my eldest son. I dont bother with milk in any form but as my son is so young i have been advised to try various substitues. Dont do goats milk as the proteins in cows and goats are very simaliar and will prob have same effects. My son cant take soya either but its one for u to try apart from that there is also oats milk by oatly which you can get calcium enriched (and a dairy free chocolate option too) and also kara coconut milk which is calcium enriched too. Hope this helps.

I have confirmation of Lymes disease from a bite some 7 weeks ago, since then my 7mths old son has had an identical rash on the back of his head. It comes and goes, flaring up really quickly then disapearing. initailly diagnosed as Impetigo none of the appropriate treatments for that worked . It has now gone ( for now) but my son hasn't really been in good health since and is very irritable and senstive, easily upset ( there is no way of knowing what he has sore ?) Should I insist that he be tested ? he has had no treatement suitable fo lymes. I have been prescribed Dycyclosine now, I had EM rash but was diagnosed with 'an allergy' I was given several creams & steroids initailly. I am VERY worried for my son.

I think my 4yr old daughter has recently had this. It started off as cold like sysmptoms inc raised temp to which she was kept off nursery. Then we had just come bk to school after a school outing and her face was bright red and hot to touch but she was ok in herself. We all noticed it including the teachers but just put it down to her being hot few days later she had a rash on her legs same size shape ans place on each leg. Again put it down to heat rash. Few weeks later she started suffering with adominal pain and aching limbs. We put that down to growing pains. I'd never heard of slapped cheek before and I think this is what my daughter had. After about a month all symptoms subsided and she's fine.

Hi, I have had random hairs on my face loads on my chest, tummy and legs and my forearms are now starting to get thick dark hairs on them :( I can't shave because i get infected follicles, waxing really hurts and sometimes even sensitive hair removal creams bring me out in a rash! I find that a dry electric shaver works for me because it gets rid of the hair and doesn't leave an obvious rash-maybe this could work for you? I know loads of women who have hairy toes, even though they don't have excess hair anywhere else. I understand how low you must feel - I've had this problem since i was about 12 and im now 28. Have you been to your GP? They can prescribe you some medication to reduce or prevent more hair growing.

My 10 year old son has had psoriasis since he was 7. It started off in small patches on his legs and then on his face, and developed over a yer or so into bad scalp psoriasis too. We have visited numerous consultant dermatologists, tried every cream out there (exorex, dovobet, dovogel, synalar etc). Metosyn (Strong steroid cream) does clear up any patches that come on his face, usually just a very small application zaps it. The best thing for the scalp is cocois and for his body we use plenty of aqueous cream. I also have been using protopic for his face when it flares up in a slight red rash and this has signficantly helped. We tried oat baths for a while too and this helped a little. Keep at it, and go on at least sunny summer's break once per year - it totally disappears in the sun but does leave white untanned skin patches where it is, Try new things and CHECK YOUR DIET!! We juice regularly so are trying to get skin detox juices down him too. Just discovered my 2 younger daughters are developing scaly scalp patches too - which I am seriously hoping isn't going to develop into full blown psoriasis

Mate you have the EXACT same problem as me. As for the white bits, that is a result of not properly cleaning the head and under the foreskin. I have tried to stretch the bit that stops the foreskin from being pulled back, and if you do it over time in seems to work. So please talk to your doctor or your parents so they can help you out. There is nothing wrong with you, as it is quite normal. but if you do not pull the foreskin back after cleaning, you can get it stuck and end up with a paraphimosis. Good look mate!

As far as i can see that is a normal thing. All because the skin is flexible and if u pull enough u can see the skin after the head and that skin is a lot thinner than the other. U dont need to be nervous because that is normal and is the common place. About the pain, if u strech the skin too much is usual to hurt (it happens anywere in the body, try it out)... if u dont stretch it too much and it keeps hurting u shoud go to a doctor to see if there is anything more complicated. Hope this helped.

Hi! My son, 4,5, had severe eczema. I've tried many medicines for him, including steroid creams and the steroid cream as far as i concern only made his eczema wider and wider. Since 2 weeks ago i started giving him black seed oil, dringking and wipe on his head and on his skin where the eczema so bad.At the beginning, his skin head became terribly dry and some areas even bleeding. Then i found out in internet that is was normal as a first reaction (detocsification) of black seed oil. Now his skin head getting a lot better. The detofsification seem "attack" her hand skin, the eczema in there look so bad with all the bubbles in the skin. If you want to try the black seed oil (drink and put on her skin) pls dont be surprise if at the beginning your child skin will look worst because from what i know is only show us that the oil black seed start to work.

My boy had that for 2 days, then the rash appeared all over his body. Take him to the docs xx
