my 3yr old son is often complaning of a itchy bottom and has been given worm treatment on more then five occasions even though i have never seen worms in his stools or in his back passage. After watching this weeks programme it made me wonder if my son could have the same issue as the little boy in te programme as he always omplains that his bottom itches and he gets very upset and cries. Do you think that if i have never seen worms that there could be some other cause for his irritation?

Hi my little girl keeps getting up in the night screaming with a sore bottom, when I look it seems to be fine! I give her cream and lots of cuddles and sonetimes a cold damp tissue to help soothe it and try and help her back to bed, she's 3 years old and this is happening every night time, she screams in the night and throws herself on the floor, I was starting to think it was phscological! Because her bottom doesn't look sore!!but really need help! She's out of nappies, I went to the doctors about it when she was in nappies, and the doctor said it maybe her urine burning her!!

have you thought about it beings a parasite? i heard that you can check for worms by waiting until they are asleep on thier tummy and check with a flashlight to see if you can see them. i guess when you sleep they will come out and it can be itchy/painful.

Have her sit in a nice warm bath more often than you do now. The water should relieve the irritableness. Make sure her body is moisterized as we never can tell when they are itchy a lot of the times. Hope this helps

is the itching worse at night? I noticed my 12 year old daughter was itching back there throughout the day and night. I checked her bottom one afternoon because she was in distress but found nothing. Googled her symptoms when she woke up one night with it being particularly itchy and found out that if the itching is worse at night it's probably worms. Checked bottom again before she went to sleep and saw loads of them crawling out, she had a pretty bad infestation. Took her to the doctor the next day and confirmed it as threadworms. Hope this helps.

Omg we are the same I'm 14 i started biting and pulling out strand of hair when I was 12 and I never liked how my hair looked up or in a bun so I always kept it down so that was a big temptation but recently about a lil after I turned 14 I was getting concerned cause I was visually seeing my hair get thinner throughout those two years and my parents are about 45 and 50 and they have way more hair than me and also thicker than mines cause having lots of thick straight/wavy hair runs in the family and my hair is in layeres and I can visually see big chunks of hair I pulled out in those two years,I can see them growing and I would mostly pull out hair in my bottom layer cause at first I thought I had way too much hair and it took forever to straighten or curl, and. Now my bottom layer has two skinny strands along w/ the hair that's growing back from the hair I pulled out.

my baby has a small hole at the top of her bottom can this cause her any problems

hi i have two exactly in the same place i was wondering what it was too x

My son has the same thing. I was told that it is related to Spina Bifida. We do have Spina Bifida in the family. My doctor said that the only problem he could have is infection, if hair grows out of it. Once I was told this, I just checked the area was kept clean when he was a baby and have not worried about it since this advice. It has never bothered my son and he is now 31 and has not had any problems whatsoever.

We found a diaper cream in Mexico called bebe..works better than anything else for a sore bottom.

The best thing to do is have a look at her bottom at night when it feels itchy. You can see the little pests wriggling about. We have an ongoing problem with our 4 year old.

Hi, If you've had these symptoms for more than a few weeks, and if you've had it since you were little then you obviously have, then it's not going to be this. In your case, it sounds very likely to be a chronic immune reaction (eg: allergy, sensitivity), quite possibly to a common food. Some likely suspects are: dairy products, wheat, eggs, gluten grains. There is fairly affordable computer-testing available for sensitivity to a multitude of foods. Mainstream medicine (GPs, etc.) is not very clued-up on all this sensitivity stuff yet, and tends to be not a lot of help. I have been coping with food-sensitivities in myself and other family members for over 25 years. All the best!

thanks keith,i will tell my mum what it could be maisiexxx

Hiya, I am 14years old and suffer from a similar problem. I have thick, dark hair and it grows very prominent all over my legs, armpits, eyebrows, on my private area and even a bit on my face (above my top lip and a bit on my cheeks), this is the most visible but there is more... I seem to have a lot of hair on my belly, my feet! and even round my breasts and chest! People dont see this area but I know its there and it feels unwomen like :( I feel like I cant wear a bikini or summer clothes cos I feel uncomfortable. When I shave, it seems to still be quite stubbly and spotty and by the time I have a shower again I need to shave all over again :/ Its horrible cos my friends dont have it and I even shave with shaving foam and exfoliate but its still there. I dont like it and I have to cover up because its so visible to me and I just dont feel like a girl... Please Help!!! Thanks x

hi, i'm 18 now and have been having this exact same problem for the lenght of time as yourself! i actually am so glad that you have commented as everything you say is totally applicable to me. I'm such a girly girl but behind closed doors when i can see my hair growth it makes me feel disgusting in comparison to my friends. have you went to the doctor at all about it? i'm too embarrassed still after all these years.

Hi I'm 13 and I know I have thread worms I've known for about 3days now, but I've had itching around my bottom for quite a while now and didn't think anything of it and itched my bottom mostly every hour, its embarrassing. I told my mum 2days ago and she told me if I see them again tell her so I told her and she hasn't done anything about it. I told her not to tell my dad because my dad tell his friends everything and I'm too embarrassed for him or anyone else to know, I trust my mum not to tell anyone and I told her over text/facebook. Can I get any pills or medication over the till or do I have to go to doctors (coz of my age)? And what's the name of the brand if so and how much does it cost? X

You need to tell your mum again and ask her to get you some medicine for it. Be careful to keep your hands clean and only wash and dry with the same towel (not the same as other people in your family) Try to keep your bottom area as dry as possible and try not to scratch. You can buy medicine, Ovex, at a chemist or in Tesco, but if you would feel better you can go to the doctor and they might give you a prescription. Speak to your mum now!

I get really bad mouth alcers to , I find soup is easy to to have for dinner, aswell as smoothies in the morning.

my 4 year old was on lactulose for 6 months and she has been on movicol for nearly a year now she still has constipation and she still holds it in as she keeps getting really red sores like nothing ive ever seen before on her bottom, ive been back to the doctors since this started on average 3 times a month, not one of them has looked at these sores and im extremeley angry and frustrated with the doctors and im going again tomorow to demand to see a peadeatrition, its heartbreaking to watch my child go through so much pain and to be told to just keep using sudocrem and movicol when its clearly not working and being told that the constipation is caused by diet which is untrue as my daughter is a very good eater, she might have a fear of going to the toilet now after 2 years of pain she might be associating the pain with the toilet but i dont think thats the case as she does try to go toilet and since getting a sore bottom shes even been going a bit at a time in her knickers

Marie I really know what your going through; my daughter was finally diganosed with impact constapation nearly 4 months ago (after visiting 4 different GPs at our surgery over 2 months), like yourself I had problems getting any of them to even look at her and take the problem seriously. Thankfully we are with BUPA who let us go to see a peadatrician, she then did an x-ray that showed the build up of poo inside of her, but then that peaditrician lost all interest! We then went back to GPs saw a 5th doctor who refered us to another peaditrician; this one has been excellect, he monitors the build up inside of her and assess how much movicol she needs to take, been told this can last upto 18 months or so :( Does your daughter wet herself? (to get these sores)as the constipation pushes the bladder (my daughter does have a problem with leakage), I also wake her up at least once a night to check she is clean and so that i can take her to the toilet. I hope you get some answers as i know this problem can make you feel very alone x

i have worms, my bottom gets very ichy especially at nite & i have seen them in my poo but i dont want 2 go 2 my doctor as i am 2 embarrassed

i sucked my thumb continually around the house and could not fall asleep with out sucking my thumb until i got braces at the age of 14. during childhood my mother tried everything from gloves to covering my thunb with bad tasting liquids but i loved my thumb so much i would just fight the bit out and suck the taste away. as i sucked my thumb whilst growing adult teeth i ended up with protruding upper teeth and intruding bottom teeth so i needed braces. when i had braces fitted as difficult as it was i knew i had to stop sucking my thumb i could not sleep properly for quite a wile and would often wake up to find that somehow my thumb had worked its way into my mouth but furtunitly i can say am Jenna and am a recovering thumb sucker its been 7 years since i had my last suck.:) i did find keeping the bottom of my tongue to the roof of my month and making a sucking motion a useful way of fighting my thumb cravings.

You should tell your mum or dad. They can get medicine from the chemist - it's just one pill - that will clear it up. Make sure you keep your hands washed and bottom clean.

Your mum can get some medicine from the chemist so you probably won't have to go to the doctor. Just make sure you keep washing your hands really well and keeping your bottom clean.

Nothing to worry about at all. I had worms as a child and was horrified at the time. When I plucked up the courage to tell my Mum she didn't even bat an eyelid! We went to the doctor and I didn't even have to have an examination - because they're so common the doctor knew what they were immediately. I then got a prescription for tablets and the problem was gone in a week or so. Please don't leave this as it's not good for you - your Mum wouldn't want you to be suffering with this. I'm a Mum so I know! Good luck.

    Just tell them!

Hi I'm 21 years old, lately when brushing my teeth I noticed the top of my gum has gone red and hurts to brush it, then after that abit on My bottom gum has done the same! Any help?? I'm not registered with a dentist!!

My son is 4 too and toilet trained but complaining of itchy bottom & when I looked there is white dots like sugar or smaller and a particular smell...

There's no need to be scard, loads of kids get them. You just take a pill from the chemist and it will clear up but you have to keep your hands washed and bottom area clean.

Hi, i am 16 and i have the same problem, although i also have them on my hips and the bottom of my back. I confided in my mum and she bought me Bio Oil. I have been using it for about 6 weeks now and i have seen a difference. It is quite expensive but it is worth it. Hope this helps.
