Hi Milan. This forum is really for teens and worried parents but I'll help. You are born with a tight foreskin and it is still tight because you have not stretched it. Masturbating usually helps to loosen it. It's unlikely that you will need circumcision and I would be astonished if a work place medical involved looking at your penis so don't worry. So, you can either go to a doctor who will give you some cream or just take regular warm baths and start stretching it back a little bit more each time. Eventually after a few months and a bit of pain it will shift. Take care

Hi Harry. Your problem is not unusual and most boys sort it out by more stretching. The skin has to stretch further when erect, which when you think about it, is obvious. Do it during a warm bath or shower. It can be a little painful but persevere and eventually it will move easily. Don't worry...you won't need a circumcision. I hope this helps.

Hey, My name is Mark and I have a slight problem, I am 15 years old and have managed to pull my foreskin successfully over the head but somehow when it goes behind the head it is really tight and my head starts to get sore. Do you know the cause of this? I am sure I don't have a tight foreskin but I do not understand why this happens (I am uncircumcised)

Hi Mark. Your experience is normal so don't worry. All you have to do is gently keep stretching your foreskin when erect and eventually it will feel less tight and sore when pulled back. The uncovered head will be very sensitive. Do the stretching when you take a warm bath as it is easier. Always pull it forward again. Hope this helps.

Hey, I have just turned 14 and my foreskin is still tight, when it is erect it can't really retract ,only a little ( I can see just past my my urination hole when I pull my foreskin back, but it won't go anymore because its too tight) I'm really worried! Will it loosen up soon so I can pull it all the way back when I have an erection ? If not, what will I have to do so it can ? Thanks! PLEASE HELP!

The foreskin starts sealed to the glans, just like your nail to the nail bed. It's probably not too tight, just still sealed as it takes anything up to 18 before it fully unseals. Don't try to force it as you can hurt yourself and introduce infection (have you ever broken a nail? If you've experienced that pain it's a similar thing, if you haven't ask anyone who has how bad it feels!) If it hasn't fully retracted when you're 18 or causing you problems then speak to your GP, but you're still young and there's still time.

Don't panic Mason, you are not alone and 14 is still quite young. Don't try and force it back. When you take a bath the warm water will soften the skin. Try retracting your foreskin then. Eventually it will start to move more. However, it could take a few months or years even to be fully retractable. Just chill out and be patient. Let us know how you get on as it may help other lads.

Hi Jack. This may not be the answer you want but at 16 your tight foreskin will be the least of your worries if you are thinking of having sex. You need to think about how to use a condom correctly to avoid unwanted pregnancy and the risks of getting an STD (sexually transmitted disease. Are you both emotionally ready for sex. I suggest you concentrate on some stretching exercises to loosen up your foreskin so that you can pull it back. When your foreskin works properly - then think about sex.

If you have gone through puberty then it won't grow a lot more but will still grow till your 21 and you should speak to your doctor obout tight foreskin and he will give you some cream and tell you how to stretch the foreskin if you can still not pull your foreskin back see your doctor and you will have to have it circumsticed

My son is nearly 4 and has a very tight foreskin . His father had a strangulated fore skin as a child and had a circumcision. My son has a small white lump under the foreskin which has been discribed as a collection of dirt and secretions. We cannot remove this as his foreskin opening is minuscule. The surgeon we saw advised forcibly pulling back the foreskin. But I am sure this is terrible advice as this would cause pain to my son, and possible damage. I am concerned that over time this lump is only getting bigger and is likely to get infected. The end of his penis is often red as it is. I do not want him to have any surgery that is not necessary, but I also don't want to wait until he can't wee, has had numerous infection and is in pain either.

my son had it all around the head of his penis.. it started out small i watched it grow to all the way around his head under his foreskin.. we took him to a uroligist at a childrens hospital. they gave us a steroid cream to put in the foreskin to thin the skin temporarily so we could pull the skin back eaisier.. you cant just slam it back. you stretch it each day so to speak .. my sons was tight .. we applied to cream and each day pulled it back yes it stretched it yes it bled a tiny bit each day it almost appeared to rip it a bit.. my boy didnt cry... he flintched .. but after about 4 days.. the skin came back and the build up (smegma) got cleaned off.. yes you should do it.. and do it while he is young.. so he doesnt remember it..

I have had this problem as well. The foreskin is too tight to allow it to pull back over the glans. Mine is odd because the entire foreskin is reasonably loose except this ring near the end which is far too tight. I saw a doctor, he just said, stretch it with your fingers and give it time.

Hi my boyfriend has been suffering from a tight foreskin for the past few months now and every time we try to have intercourse he has to stop because of the pain, and where it is so tight the skin splits around the tip of the foreskin and bleeds a lot, he's 20 and is very pessimistic about getting circumcised due to reading about men that have had it done and lost most sexual feeling, is there any other option than circumcision?

Hi Charlee! Sorry to hear this. I suggest avoiding penetrative sex and concentrate on stretching his foreskin gradually. Soaking in warm water should help and you could assist if you wish. Alternatively, his doctor could prescribe some steroid cream. Personally, I share his concerns about circumcision...its all very final. Do some research on line but don't worry. Together you will get through it. Take care

Hi Edison! When the foreskin has detached it will stay like that for ever. You must pull it back every time you wash to clean away the snegma. Keep stretching and exercising your foreskin and it will move OK

So now how can I take care? Can I use soap? I must pull my foreskin everytime for exercise?

Hi Finley! You can't clean your penis if you don't pull back the foreskin. I advise everyone to take warm baths as it softens the foreskin and it gets less tight. Pull back gently. Over time you'll be able to pull it back further. It will hurt a little but be persisent and brave. No pain...No gain! It is essential to pull it back, then forward again. Do it a little more each time. You may find gooey stuff underneath called Smegma. Just wash off wothout soap and pull skin forward again. Go for it...!

My 6 year old son has a tight foreskin. A few years ago I took him to the doctors as the tip of his penis bends to the side and when he goes to the toilet it comes out at an angle. The doctor referred him to a specialist at the hospital who said it was due to his tight foreskin but that it would correct itself over time. How much time should I give it as it doesn't appear to have corrected itself and my son is very conscious over it, any help would be appreciated

Hi Kelly. Sadly, no one can tell how long it will take. One thing you could do is each time he takes a bath get him to try and pull it back. Make this part of his bathing regime and eventually it will move. Don't force it and all will be well I am sure.

Phew! I don't share some GP's approaches to these issues. However, the antibiotics should have cleared up the infection. Remember foreskins in small boys tend to be tight and loosen up as they get older. Put him in a nice warm bath as this will soften the skin. Don't use soap initially. At an appropriate moment, wash his penis and gently try and stretch the skin back a little but don't make a fuss. It must be part of the normal bath game (or battle!). Then wash him in mild baby friendly soaps. Obviously, make sure you dry him off properly and get him to wear simple well fitting briefs to keep his bits well tucked in. Try this and don't worry. He'll be OK I'm sure. If not get back to us urgently.

I'm 17 years old, I'm having trouble with tight foreskin. I went to the doctors and he told me that I only have a slight case of phimosis and that it isnt too bad and i got given hydrocortisone cream to help. When flaccid I can retract quite far down and is now quite lose, but when erect it is very tight and hard to retract. What should I do to help retract my foreskin when erect? And also one more question, am I meant to stretch the foreskin behind the actual head of the penis when both flaccid and erect? Its just im very scared of getting paraphamosis so I don't want to risk retracting it behind the head without knowing. Thanks for taking your time to read this, any suggestions are much appreciated!

Hi Dan. Sorry for the delayed response. You are not alone so don't worry. Your foreskin should be able to stretch right back behind the head and a little way down the shaft, when soft and erect. So,keep stretching it at every opportunity especially when erect. Take regular warm baths or showers as this softens the skin and make stretching easier. The cream will not work on its own, you have to stretch it as well. Do it a little bit at a time and eventually it will go all the way. Be brave but sensible and you'll be OK. Hope this helps.

hi my son of 3yrs seems to have a tight foreskin and when he goes to the toilet, it looks like his wee bits ballons in the middle and is quite tight at the end. He has had a few infections in the past, balinitis?? sometimes he tells me its sore, my mum says he might need a wee operation. Is this normal for wee boys of this age or should i leave it till he gets a bit older?

Hey I'm 18 and I can pull my foreskin back a little more then half way at times, but I've noticed that there's a tight part that looks like a ring that goes around my penis that stops it from going any further. I do the stretches here and there, but that tight ring doesn't seem like it's getting any wider. What do I do?

Hi Johnny. Without a quick look it's not easy to appreciate what you are saying. I think you just need to focus on stretching so that you can get it right back over the bell-end. Try it when soft as it maybe easier and work up from there. The foreskin is just a double flap of skin and smooth muscle tissue. It is designed to be pulled back and you should really be able to do it by 18. Don't worry though but if things don't improve in a few months just visit your Doctor.

hello my name is neil, and i have been to see my doctor about my tight foreskin i have got, and the name of the cream the doctor gave me is hydrocortisone cream, do you think this cream will work on my penis. if not the doctor said he will send me to see someone at the hospital, what treatments is there for this, i like to know more about it. i had a tight foreskin for 6 years now and i was brave to see my doctor about it. when i was a young boy my penis was ok until now, hope i will hear from you soon about this many thanks from neil

Hi Neil. Hydrocortizone is a steroid cream which helps relieve redness and itching. Betamethazone 0.05% would be a good choice for a tight foreskin. Remember that using the cream alone is not enough. You have to work at stretching your foreskin back. Best to do this in a warm bath. Be brave as it may hurt at first and it can take a few months. It will be worth it. Hope this helps

Hello, my son is nearly 6. He has been able to fully retract his foreskin since he was four. However, he has had several episodes of cracks appearing on the end of his foreskin for no apparent reason. He has also just developed eczema on his thighs. The pharmacist thought it maybe thrush and he has been using that on his penis, it has helped, but his foreskin looks so tight still. I am really worried about it. I would hate for him to be circumcised as he has aspergers and I don't know how he would deal with it. Please offer done advice.

No worries Sam. I think you are describing the bit of skin which is called the Frenulum and it needs to be there. All you have to do is concentrate on stretching the foreskin back every time you take a bath or shower. Do it a little bit every time and in no time at all, it will loosen up and move easier. Go for it! Hope this helps and don't be embarrassed - you are normal.

Only thing to try, before going to a doctor, would be (in the best possible taste) to encourage frequent retraction. The foreskin is not like normal skin and can stretch in quite an amazing way. Do not force it, a bit at a time. If no joy see a doctor or leave it till he's more willing to get it seen. Not that there is every a good time for this sort of thing. A tight foreskin that tears frequently on retraction can be very painful and affect your physical and mental sexual health.

I am 16 and suffer from this, from a young age i've noticed that i've had this problem,I have tried to pull the foreskin back over a period of weeks, it showed promise becuase i was able to get the foreskin about half way down the head, it did get stuck there so i needed to fix it and a couple of hours after my foreskin became tight again. I an currentally in a relationship and it makes it hard for me to engage in anything with my girlfriend becuase of the pain it sometimes causes me. I do not get any pain other than when i pull the foreskin back too far. Is there any suggestions on how i can KEEP the foreskin loose without a oporation? any help will be Appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I'm 16 years old and I have a very tight foreskin, it can't ever go over the head at all. Also, there is a part in the tip of my penis/foreskin which looks as if it has tapeared a bit and it's a bit blue. Would I have to get a circumcision or are there techniques/medication which I could use to retract my foreskin over the head of my penis?

Hi Connor. Don't worry you are not alone and will not need circumcision. All you have to do is gradually start to stretch your foreskin. It can be a slow and painful task but believe me - it is well worth the trouble. So, take a warm bath. The warm water softens the skin. Be brave and give your foreskin a pull back towards your body. Try it when soft and hard to see what works the best. Eventually it will move a bit. Wash off any yellow stuff you may see and pull forward again. Don't worry just take small steps each time you bath and it will start moving. It could take up to six months. Give it a go and get back to us if you need to. Take care.

Hi, I am 17 and I can't pull my foreskin back as it is tight, I've never had sexual intercourse and I know when I do this is gonna "kill" my penis as its tight. I could once pull it back put now I can't and its been about a year now, what shall I do?

Hi Lewis. If you could pull it back at one time then it has certainly detached from your penis head. I think you need to do some stretching exercises when you take a bath and it should loosen up again. Do it first when soft. Maybe there is a build up of snegma under your foreskin that you must wash off without soap. If this doesn't work then a doctor could give you some steroid cream which can be very effective. Sex is possible as you are now but will be better with your forskin pulled back. Take care
