Hi Milan. This forum is really for teens and worried parents but I'll help. You are born with a tight foreskin and it is still tight because you have not stretched it. Masturbating usually helps to loosen it. It's unlikely that you will need circumcision and I would be astonished if a work place medical involved looking at your penis so don't worry. So, you can either go to a doctor who will give you some cream or just take regular warm baths and start stretching it back a little bit more each time. Eventually after a few months and a bit of pain it will shift. Take care

my oldest son was done at the age of 3 he is 12 now and it was the best thing i done because he was in so much pain it wont get any better if the skin is tight it needs to be done i am waiting for my youngest son to be done as well he is only 4 but he crys when he wants a pee as he skin is very tight and his penis blows up like a ballon hope i was of any help to you sarah

Hi, my son is 1 1/2, I noticed the tip of his penis slightly red at his 8 week check up, he was referred to a consultant who said it was just a bit tight and to pull back the skin after a bath,on his next check up he was 1 an 4 months we were told his skin was to tight an that he needed a circumcision, he doesn't seem to be in any pain and has never had infections, so do you think this procedure is necessary

Circumcision is a risky proceedure and results in the loss of a surprisingly large area of important skin. Many doctors are ignorant when it comes to the long and short-term effects of foreskin amputation. IntactAmerica.org is a good source of information.

Hi Lyn. NO...a babies foreskin is supposed to be stuck to the tip of the penis. If he is not in pain then there is absolutely no need for circumcision. Take care

Hey, My name is Mark and I have a slight problem, I am 15 years old and have managed to pull my foreskin successfully over the head but somehow when it goes behind the head it is really tight and my head starts to get sore. Do you know the cause of this? I am sure I don't have a tight foreskin but I do not understand why this happens (I am uncircumcised)

Hi Mark. Your experience is normal so don't worry. All you have to do is gently keep stretching your foreskin when erect and eventually it will feel less tight and sore when pulled back. The uncovered head will be very sensitive. Do the stretching when you take a warm bath as it is easier. Always pull it forward again. Hope this helps.

Hey, I have just turned 14 and my foreskin is still tight, when it is erect it can't really retract ,only a little ( I can see just past my my urination hole when I pull my foreskin back, but it won't go anymore because its too tight) I'm really worried! Will it loosen up soon so I can pull it all the way back when I have an erection ? If not, what will I have to do so it can ? Thanks! PLEASE HELP!

The foreskin starts sealed to the glans, just like your nail to the nail bed. It's probably not too tight, just still sealed as it takes anything up to 18 before it fully unseals. Don't try to force it as you can hurt yourself and introduce infection (have you ever broken a nail? If you've experienced that pain it's a similar thing, if you haven't ask anyone who has how bad it feels!) If it hasn't fully retracted when you're 18 or causing you problems then speak to your GP, but you're still young and there's still time.

Don't panic Mason, you are not alone and 14 is still quite young. Don't try and force it back. When you take a bath the warm water will soften the skin. Try retracting your foreskin then. Eventually it will start to move more. However, it could take a few months or years even to be fully retractable. Just chill out and be patient. Let us know how you get on as it may help other lads.

Hi Harry. Your problem is not unusual and most boys sort it out by more stretching. The skin has to stretch further when erect, which when you think about it, is obvious. Do it during a warm bath or shower. It can be a little painful but persevere and eventually it will move easily. Don't worry...you won't need a circumcision. I hope this helps.

Unlikely but there are other factors which may influence your ability to have a child.

There are many factors involved in producing children. I suspect your tight foreskin will be the least of your worries! How old are you by the way?

I have just returned from seeing physio about my 5 year old's daughter's feet. She gave me some exercises. She said there is nothing I can do to make her stop walking on toes except reminding her. It is a habit and will change according to her moods and anxiety. She will only stop when she chooses to. What I need to do is do exercises to loosen her mussels and tendons. That is problem that needs to be dealt with. I do not want her to have walking/health problems when she is older. The physio did say in extreme cases there is an operation but again that is to do with the tight tendons, not to stop her from walking on her toes.

My 5 yr old daughter has this same problem, habitual toe walking and has just come out of casts , she had them on for 6 weeks in total, with them being changed every two weeks. The idea is to stretch the tendons. Am very pleased to say she got them off on wednesday and she is walking normal, it is just a habit, but a habit that needs worked with, hence the stretch casts on both feet, I don't feel that physio was enough to cure this issue with my daughter, neither was just reminding her. Glad this worked because the next step was surgery, which I didn't want.

hi my son his 13 and he walked on his tiptoes has soon has he could walk at 10months old he had an operation when he was 10years old for tight tendons but 3years on hes walks out toeing hes very stiff he can only walk slow and hes in pain most days he has slight knock knees he struggles to walk and run has any one else had this operation done for toe walking

I tip toe walk and have done since seven years old, it took countless doctors and hospitals 5 years to diagnose me as simply having short Achilles tendons which I did not grow out of. I was offered surgery to lengthen the tendons but turned it down due to the impact it would have had on me during my GCSEs, with hindsight this was a mistake. Physiotherapy and orthotics were not able to be much help in my case due to the severity of the problem and the length of time I had lived with it. Yes it does cause other problems to those of you who seem concerned, my knees and hips are no longer correctly aligned and this causes me severe back pain, my legs hurt most of the time and I wear through shoes at an alarming rate. It has also caused my toes to claw from the 'gripping' effect toe walkers use although this has improved in recent years. Please if you are a toe walker who didn't outgrow it go to doctor if you start to have these problems and if you need to even explain that you think it may be due to your toe walking so you can accurate treatment!

My partners boy, who u consider my own is in so much pain, doing his excercises. He has been walking on his toes since a child, he's been in casts and special made boots. It does not seem to work. What's this operation to lengthen his tendons? He gets so upset as it hurts him so much. J

My wifes younger brother was treated for the same thing when he was about 13. Research "marie charchot tooth disease". IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TEETH. it just has the word tooth in it because it's named after the person who first researched this disease I guess the last name was tooth. anyway check it out it might help you...it might not.

I'm a 15 year old female dancer and i have always been a tip toe walker. i still am,but i don't realise i'm doing it. As a result i have realy short acilese(sorry don't know how to spell it) tendons, which makes me less easy to jump & plie. its realy annoying because you cant strech it.

Phew! I don't share some GP's approaches to these issues. However, the antibiotics should have cleared up the infection. Remember foreskins in small boys tend to be tight and loosen up as they get older. Put him in a nice warm bath as this will soften the skin. Don't use soap initially. At an appropriate moment, wash his penis and gently try and stretch the skin back a little but don't make a fuss. It must be part of the normal bath game (or battle!). Then wash him in mild baby friendly soaps. Obviously, make sure you dry him off properly and get him to wear simple well fitting briefs to keep his bits well tucked in. Try this and don't worry. He'll be OK I'm sure. If not get back to us urgently.

hi my son of 3yrs seems to have a tight foreskin and when he goes to the toilet, it looks like his wee bits ballons in the middle and is quite tight at the end. He has had a few infections in the past, balinitis?? sometimes he tells me its sore, my mum says he might need a wee operation. Is this normal for wee boys of this age or should i leave it till he gets a bit older?

Your best going to a gp to get i checked out! my friend brother had the same problem and he has a wee oporation and its solved it nicely, so if i was you i would consider this option for you child

I have allways walked on my toes (I am 18 now) and I was diagnosed as having short achilies tendons when I was around 8. I had phisiotherapy and insoles and told by the doctors that if I didn't learn to walk properly I would have to have an operation later in life which deffinatly scared me at the time. I still walk on my toes occasionally, and have been informed by my GP's that there should be no problem.

im 25 and just started for some unone reson to have tight fourskin wen fully erectedand redness around the tip

Hi, The muscular ring at the tip of the foreskin can be enlarged by the use of a cream prescribed by the doctor. It will take only a few weeks, but do not let anyone persuade you to have a circumcision, it's quicker for them, but you'll be sorry afterwards, when sex is less pleasurable. Your penis will need a little maintenance, but it's a lot less than cleaning your teeth twice a day.

Hi Im 25 and had a very tight foreskin. I have managed to pull it back and can clean it regularly but it can still be quite tight to retract. would I still require to get a circumcision even though I can clean it on a regular basis?

Phew! I doubt you need circumcision. Perhaps more retracting back and forth whilst taking a warm bath is needed. This softens the skin and should make it easier. Over time things will improve

would suggest you ask for a circ, i know doctors dont like to do it these days but trust me it is the best answer i had to go through it when i was 22yrs and i was sorry not to have had it done when i was younger

is there anything i can do for my tight foreskin when erect and having sex i have a band of tight skin round my penis when the skin is pulled back and is painful when having sex

Hey I'm 18 and I can pull my foreskin back a little more then half way at times, but I've noticed that there's a tight part that looks like a ring that goes around my penis that stops it from going any further. I do the stretches here and there, but that tight ring doesn't seem like it's getting any wider. What do I do?

Hi Johnny. Without a quick look it's not easy to appreciate what you are saying. I think you just need to focus on stretching so that you can get it right back over the bell-end. Try it when soft as it maybe easier and work up from there. The foreskin is just a double flap of skin and smooth muscle tissue. It is designed to be pulled back and you should really be able to do it by 18. Don't worry though but if things don't improve in a few months just visit your Doctor.

i'm 15 and i think my foreskin is tight, i can pull it back a little bit but not all the way, it feels very tight almost like its going to explode. Im to embarrassed to talk to my parents about it and i dont want a circumcision what should i do? Also it hurts a little bit when i touch under the foreskin is that normal if not what should i do?

I have had this problem as well. The foreskin is too tight to allow it to pull back over the glans. Mine is odd because the entire foreskin is reasonably loose except this ring near the end which is far too tight. I saw a doctor, he just said, stretch it with your fingers and give it time.

Hi my boyfriend has been suffering from a tight foreskin for the past few months now and every time we try to have intercourse he has to stop because of the pain, and where it is so tight the skin splits around the tip of the foreskin and bleeds a lot, he's 20 and is very pessimistic about getting circumcised due to reading about men that have had it done and lost most sexual feeling, is there any other option than circumcision?

Hi Charlee! Sorry to hear this. I suggest avoiding penetrative sex and concentrate on stretching his foreskin gradually. Soaking in warm water should help and you could assist if you wish. Alternatively, his doctor could prescribe some steroid cream. Personally, I share his concerns about circumcision...its all very final. Do some research on line but don't worry. Together you will get through it. Take care

When it finally dawned on my that my ex probably has Asperger's I remembered that he had had to have the tendons in his legs lengthened when he was about 10 years old. His mother told me it was because he is flat footed but I now realise it was probably an autistic trait. I also used to walk on my toes as a child but my mother taught me to stop doing it. I probably did it because I missed the crawling stage through illness and had weakened muscle tone generally so I probably found it easier to walk toe first.
